This proved a perfect base for exploring the spectacular countryside. The farm has a wonderfully peaceful atmosphere with the towering mountains providing a stunning backdrop to the beautiful gardens on the farm. The cottage was large, clean and had everything we needed. Bob and Wendy were welcoming and generous hosts and we soon felt right at home. Highly recommended for... More

It's not easy travelling with a toddler, so it was a great surprise when we arrived at Summerhill. Not only were our hosts Bob and Wendy friendly, welcoming and willing to assist with our every request, including a camp cot, which made packing the car a pleasure, but their beautiful farm is home to all kinds of farm animals; rabbits,... Great cottages, beautiful gardens and plenty to do for young and old including a play area and animals for the children. Our hosts Bob and Wendy were charming, very informative of the local area and nothing was too much trouble.... More

We spent our last two nights in South Africa here because it is only about 120K to Cape Town airport. Very large room, but bathroom area in need of some work. Very large garden which we used our last day to relax in. We didn't go out on our last day and were a little disappointed that the owners made... More

We stopped over as we drove from Outshoorn back to Cape Town with family from Tasmania. It was cold and wet but we received the warmest welcome from the hosts, Bob & Wendy. Our room was well equipped, clean and very quaint. I looked forward to bathing in the Victorian bath the following morning. Our cousins were given the incredibly... More

I can only express the kindest of words and compliments to the owners and staff at Summerhill.... Not only are the rooms spick and span and fully equipped, but the farm area is fantastic too! A definite must-see for the children are the ducks, peacocks, chickens, pigs, rabbits, horses, goats etc....... The food was tantalizingly fabulous and all needs/ requirements... More

I opted to drive from Johannesburg to Cape Town because I wanted to see the Big Hole at Kimberley. Not a recommended option!!!
