I stayed here for a short business trip to Stellenbosch and was very impressed by the friendly welcome and free valet parking. The decor of the hotel throughout has a contemporary feel but kept its historic features. The room was vast and the bath definitely worth a go after a long day. The garden area is small but pretty. Breakfast... More

The setting is in the middle of Stellenbosch and within walking distance of restaurants and shops. The rooms are truly beautiful with antique furniture mixed with contemporary furniture. The bathrooms are big and look very luxurious. But the odd bath is very uncomfortable to soak in and nearly impossible to get out of. The beds are very comfortable and the... More

I recently stayed in the Oude Werf as the Lanzerac couldn't accommodate me for two nights of my stay in Stellenbosch. The hotel is very central in the town on a pretty quiet road which seems to have a few nice cafe's and arty shops. I did struggle to find it as the brown hotel road signs are slightly misleading... Thank you for taking the time to comment and for your constructive feedback. We are currently in the process of having more road signs made – since Church Street recently changed direction, we have had to change all our signage accordingly. We will speak to our restaurant team about the slow service – we with the aim of it only... More

This was once a lovely old hotel but is in danger of losing the plot as it is now dominated by one night stay large groups. We were offered an upgraded deluxe room but found it to be airless, dark and unpleasant. Stick with the superior rooms.

While we appreciate your comment, we are sad to hear that you found the rooms to be unpleasant – especially as they have been recently upgraded. We would appreciate it if you would let us know any particular areas we could improve, as it sounds as though your experience is not as it should have been. I look forward to... More

I really enjoyed my stay at this hotel. Their rooms are big and I loved the decor. The hotel is very well positioned and within walking distance to restaurants and shopping areas. On the negative side I was disappointed with them not offering room service. I arrived round about 11:00 PM and couldn't order anything to eat. My minibar in... More

Thank you so much for your feedback – we are so glad to hear that you liked the upgraded rooms and décor. Thank you for pointing out that guests checking in late do not have a meal available – we will look into what options are available to ensure that no one ever goes to bed hungry. We do apologise... The two ladies called efficient saved this hotel being marked down to below average as the waitreses called wander did exactly that they wandered around making sure they did not make eye contact, just the one that gave excellent service ,and much the same with reception, plumbing was the worst we have experienced in a long while really loud gurgling from the... Thank you for taking the time to comment. We are sad to hear that you found our waitress to simply ‘wander’. In certain local cultures, not making eye contact can be seen as a sign of respect, but we understand as international guests this is could be difficult to interpret. If you could please let us know your room number,... More

My wife and I stayed here whilst celebrating our wedding anniversary and had a wonderful 2 night stay in Stellenbosch. Hotel room was very well equipped and service was exemplary. Buffet style breakfast supplemented by freshly prepared hot food. As we had booked this hotel through our travel agent the hotel had been advised of our celebratory visit and kindly... More

A hotel whichis generally good but still has some way to go. The general manager was very hard working and customer orientated. Rooms vary from very new to classic older ones. The pool courtyard is very central to rooms and connference delegates gather to shout down their mobile phones, guests too so not a relaxing location and the pool was... More

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback. We are sorry to hear you weren’t able to enjoy the pool area – as Stellenbosch summers are notoriously fierce, we didn’t feel it necessary to heat the pool during this season. We will look into having dedicated areas for mobile phone us, as this seems to have played quite... More

At the arrival staff were really friendly but after that not so much. We had the "biggest" room with terrace because we were on our honeymoon. No sparkling or flowers in the room, even if stated so in the hotelbooklet that honeymooners get it. After pointing it out they brought sparkling at 9.30pm to the room. Terrace in bad condition... Thank you for your feedback and taking the time to comment. We can only offer our sincerest apologies – there was a change in allocated rooms, and sadly no one moved the sparkling wine (and other treats) to your new room. There are no excuses – it was a mistake on our side and one we sincerely hope will not... More

We stayed here at the beginning of the month, for three nights. The room definitely have a wow factor, with a huge bed, overlooking the pretty pool area with our own little patio opening right onto it, and a great bathroom! I didn't find the staff amazingly friendly but that could be because we had just come from a smaller... More
