We stayed here for 2 nights where we watched a cultural show in one of their restaurants called Moyo, saw cheetahs & eagles as well as wine tasting, eating well and relaxing! the staff are very friendly and all food and drink is very reasonable in price. The pool is kept very clean and a lot of guests used it.... more

We stayed here as part of our two week trip to Cape Town, Wineland and Garden Route. The hotel is lovely, modern looking with massive rooms. We ate in the main restaurant in the evening which was really good. We could have eaten at MOYO which is a buffet restaurant but speaking with other travellers later on in the holiday... more

We weren't sure what to expect when we arrived at Spier. However it didn't take us long to work out it was a beautiful place with plenty to keep us occupied on our 2 night stay. The food and wine is superb at all the venues. The African buffet and Moyo experience is one not to be missed as is... more

This hotel is a small part of a very large complex which is maintained to an excellent standard. The fact that it is also a conference venue means that it is visited by South africans as well as tourists and I think this helps it to keep an element of the culture at the same time as offering imternational standards... more

Spent 2 nights at Spier in November 2009. This is a very large commercial hotel in Stellenbosch that specialises in conferences etc. Although, the hotel is too large to have personal touches the staff on the whole were friendly and helpful. One major issue with the hotel is that a large number of the rooms face the direction of a... more

We stayed here for 3 days in October 2009, the latest of several visits. Regrettably, standards had slipped from previous years, especially in the areas of food and service. With the notable exception of Moyo, a separately run restaurant /entertainment venue on site which is excellent, the main hotel restaurant (one other, previously the Jonker House, is closed for refurbishment/rebranding)... more

This was our first hotel upon arriving in South Africa after 26 hours in transit from the US. We arranged with the concierge to have a car pick us up at the airport since we knew we would be tired. We even confirmed the arrangements days before travel and were assured they would meet us in the arrival hall. Strike... more

Loved my stay in this hotel, lovely personal touches like lavender on the pillows. Loved the huge fireplace in the room, massive bath. Excellent room service. the restaurants on site were very good but room service was great too!! Short drive to the wineries. Easy to find too. Really was excellent. Only slight complaint was that there was no "Do... more

Spier is a model winery for arts lovers. Not only do they have great rooms in an idyllic setting, but the winery has an arts fund that supports visual arts and hosts concerts in their own amphitheater! The restaurants are also deelish. Highly recommended. more

Stayed the last night of our holiday and we were plesantly surprised with the hotel and its many facilities. Disappointed in the Moyo food and entertainment at R250 pp. Following a previous reviewer's advice, we booked in advance for a table in the trees, but it was to cold up there and you cannot see the entertainment either. After a... more
