To begin this review, I should emphasize that I have never visited a hostel before. Nonetheless, I knew that they are worth staying in for a short visit, and that they allow people to get to know one another. I booked Stumble Inn, excited to visit Stellenbosch. My friend and I were equally excited about the great deal that we... More

I wished I hadn't stumbled inn-to this hostel. The minute I walked in knew it was a party hostel, but at that stage, I thought 'it wouldn't be that bad'. I was wrong. For people who like a party hostel, I guess it's a good one. But if you are looking for good accommodation (which implies a good chance on... More

We stayed here as part of our Overland tour with Absolute Africa. We were in dorm rooms with other members of our group. The rooms were fine and beds comfortable enough. Bathrooms were pretty clean and showers were largely hot (with a couple of cold spells). There is free wifi in the lounge areas. There's also a well-stocked communal kitchen... More

Stayed in a private room but dorms and yard camping is available. It has a grat vibe, bar, common area, pool, pool table, and there is a pub crawl they organize. The wine tour they offer is easy and legit. Discount if you stay for 2 nights. Very friendly staff.

Can't even cope! Where do I even start to write this review. If you love dingy rooms packed with drug, money and alcohol fueled domestics between three generations of the same family, a chick letting her uni friends in and out of the dorms (and her pants) or other people forgetting their keys and whinging that reception should be open... This is a review based on several visits to Stumble : in 2008, as a student; in 2010, as a tourist; in 2015, as a friend. I won't speak too much about the features and the furniture but about the atmosphere, the vibe. About the possible. About mindset. About what can happen. Stumble Inn is first of all a backpackers... Stumble Inn is nothing special, but it is a convenient spot in the heart of Stellenbosch. The staff is friendly and the accommodations are clean. I actually lucked out and had a dorm to myself! :) Easy walking distance to city centre of Stellenbosch, and they can coordinate wine tours, etc. for you...though I didn't take advantage of this...

Right off the bat, the location is a little sketchy, especially if you have your own vehicle. There is no secure parking and signs warning you to keep valuables out of your car because theft is rife. Upon entering, the front desk man was not courteous right off the bat, not introducing himself or even establishing eye contact as whatever... More

Stayed in the 6 bed room and payed 120 R each. Close to city Center and main shops and amenities. Good staff, however the person in charge was not aware regarding the public transports available to move away from the city. Kitchen full equipped and internet available.

Stellenbosch is a good place to start you trip up or end your trip off "The Garden Route". And if you are going for the winelands, this is a good alternative stopover. Easy access from the main road and not too far a walk from the village.
