We based ourselves here with Matilda and here amazing team whilst we spend 4 days traversing this amazing valley. There is so much to do we wish we had stayed for a few more days. All the rooms here are unique and well appointed and you will want for nothing. The staff are dedicated to ensuring your stay is comfortable... More

I don't understand how they can justify R220.00 for a buffet dinner! Total rip-off especially since there is no al carte option and should you want a smaller evening meal you have to travel into Oudsthoorn approximately 15km. As a Tourist Guide I would not use De Opstal - there are places is just as good and also quaint that... More

Beautiful room and great buffet meal with a roaring log fire in the middle of the restaurant. It was a cool night and when we returned to our lodge, the staff had put a hot water bottle in our bed. Lovely touch!

Loved everything about this hotel, epsecially the fantastic service. We arrived mid afternoon and within an hour they had provided us with Sandwiches and took care of our laundry! Such a relaxing place and the food in the resteraunt was brilliant - loved the Ostrich steaks! Definately the place to go to for a relaxing countryside rest!

This accommodation preserves its rural nature with differing sized rooms situated around the property connected by a maze of paths. Our large room had all the amenities required and was a couple of minutes walk from the on-site restaurant. The menu was interesting and eclectic with friendly service. Overall a very pleasant experience far removed from the bland chain hotels

Fantastic venue and incredible organization went into organizing this event for us... Thank you De Opstal... Our wedding food was the best I've ever had at a wedding, the accommodation was super with a fireplace to set the tone. This place is visually so stimulating, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places in South Africa oudtshoorn- Schoemanshoek Breakfast was average,... More

Myself and my partner stayed here for one night when we were doing the garden route. It took a bit of getting used to. It was old fashioned but quirky. Evening dinner was fabulous, and staff were extremely friendly.. especially the women who attended us in the restaurant. She also gave us a good insight into the farm it used... More

First impressions fairly good. Room generously proportioned but the atmosphere was weird, with girls' bridesmaids dresses hanging up and a pervading atmosphere of piety and religious condescension. Is this an Amish Centre? Very, very unsettling!! Paranormal activity? BBQ was absolutely awful!! Breakfast not much better. Dreadful overall. Avoid at all costs. This place is not a reflection of our superb... More

We stayed one night whilst traveling on our Garden Route Tour. Lovely well kept grounds with a small pool, lodges are huge, clean, with all amenities, large bathrooms plus free wi fi. There was a large porch with sofa if you wanted to and had time to sit out and take in the surroundings..but didn't like opening the lodge door at... More
