I spent 3 days at Backpackers Paradise and I want to commend the staff, especially Marius and his wife for having positive attitudes and going above & beyond with all my requests for help and whatnot. I hardly ever leave reviews to places I've visited in my travels but these people deserve a lot of credit.

Had such a lovely time here. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. A home away from home 😊. I would recommend a stop off here it's a really cool place. When we wanted to go horse riding the owner drove us there himself and picked us up afterwards.

It is a nice hostel, friendly people. Weird thing to have to pay R200 deposit for 2 towels, but got it back, so anyway.. Good WiFi but only in reception area. Room was okay, not that special for that kind of money. Bad thing is I woke up at 5 in the morning because of car sounds (yes, I had... More

This establishment is a lot bigger than it looks - it's a warren of passages & pathways which lead to different areas (camping, hostel rooms, bar, reception, outdoor facilities, etc.). Overall though, our experience was good. The reception staff were friendly, welcoming and full of information and itinerary ideas which is always welcome. We stayed in the private ensuite rooms... Check in was great. Camping area was small but cool. Showers and toilets were clean. Bar was great. Good service. Lots of communal areas and lots of private areas. Somewhat of a wild layout which is fun when drunk and meeting people. Be sure to hit the bar at least once.

I had such a great time here: The location in town is great and Marius helps organise activities for you such as the Swartberg Pass cycle ride and Cango Caves (both unmissable if you're staying here) At night there's a great bar and pool on offer as well as a braai that Marius cooks up himself. Wonderful hospitality, colonial style... More

Big comfortable beds, great friendly staff, awesome bar, clean amenities. Love sitting around the fire after dinner (try the ostrich egg for breakfast and the ostrich steaks for dinner). This is an awesome place to visit all year round. Definitely do the cycle from the top of Swartberg pass all the way back into town.

This was literally the best backpackers place, the staff were incredibly friendly the hostel was comfy the bar was good and the food was great! (Had to pay separately but worth it). They also do great trips which is superb, we did the kango caves and the ostrich farm in one and had a superb time. Wish I could have... More

This hostel was one of the off route option from the Baz Bus route. I have decided to go take a look. I have no regrets. It was starting to be their quiet season so I had a 8 bed dorm all to myself. The fireplace at the common area was made for hanging out and drinking. The owners were... More

I had a good time at the backpackers. The staff is nice, and so is the bar with pool table, the nightly fire, the dorms, the big communal kitchen and especially the restaurant where you can enjoy a very good breakfast or lunch for a very good price. The staff is very willing to help you out if you are... More
