This was our return visit to Afton Grove. SInce last visiting in 2007 it would appear nothing has changed apart from the owners. We asked to be moved room due the one we were allocated smelling of cigarettes (despite the no smoking signs) from some inconsiderate previous tennants. Even at 10pm at night it appeared to be no bother to... More

We spent a week self-catering at Afton Grove in January 2014, for a break in the sun from the English winter. It was so relaxing, and Shirley was extremely helpful and welcoming. She organised a naturalist-guide for a walk up Table Mountain (by the shady "back side" path - highly recommended, but definitely take a guide as it's 4 hours... More

We stayed at Afton Grove for a total of four nights during our recent visit to South Africa. It's well-located for exploring the Cape Peninsula and environs and is superbly run by Chris and Louise who are just a pleasure to get know. They know the area well (especially if you want birding or wildlife viewing advice) and run a... More

We stayed here both at the beginning and end of our time on the Western Cape. We travelled with Birding Ecotours who had arranged these stays. Afton Grove is a very friendly birding B&B with wonderful grounds that we also birded... super breakfasts with wonderful pastries, fruit and cooked dishes. Chris is a very knowledgeable birder who you feel totally... More

We brought a group of 27 students and 4 adults from the USA and spent 10 days at Afton Grove. The facilities were beautiful, the service was wonderful and attentive, and Chris and Louise were delightful hosts. Though we were only there for 10 days, Afton Grove came to feel like home by the time we left. A great location!

We booked the Afon Grove for our first 4 nights in South Africa for exploring the Cape Town area. It is a lovely spot, set in 2 acres of gardens, The rooms are nice and very spacious with their own fridge which is useful so you can have fresh milk with your tea! Very relaxed and friendly.
