St. James of Knysna is a beautifully hidden compound on the water inlet with views of the town and hills. All the staff is exceptionally helpful.. the updated spacious rooms are very clean and comfortable and charming. We would definitely stay again and highly recommend them.

Views are exceptional, the grounds are so beautiful. Out of town but only minutes drive from the Waterfront. Slight noise from nearby road but this does not distract from the tranquility and beauty of this wonderful hotel.Room a little tired but was end of season. All Staff are all exceptional, everything done with a smile and really nothing is too... More

Warm welcome and great service throughout although service at dinner was slow. The food was generally good although my steak was not cooked as requested and rather spoiled a good piece of meat. Breakfasts were excellent and the grounds and pool well maintained. It was also a pleasant surprise that our car was washed daily at no charge. Our suite... More

Stayed here a year ago and loved it so much that we returned. Glad we did! Lovely position, about 2 km outside the central area, located between road and lagoon. We had a spacious suite with an unobstructed view of the lagoon. The hotel has 2 pools, one being sheltered by buildings all around it and the other being located... More

This is one of the best places we have stayed in South Africa. The accommodation is absolutely superb, very opulent, yet friendly. Lovely views over the lagoon from rooms and restaurant. The food was excellent, but the only downside was the menu did not change and the service was more than relaxed, it was slow. The other hotels in Knysna... More

Before I retired I was fortunate to be able to stay (on business) in some of the best hotels in the world, such as the Taj in Mumbai, the Peninsula and Shangri La in Hong Kong, the Mandarin Oriental in Singapore and the Adlon in Berlin. As good as they were, I can safely say that in none of them... More

Friendly staff, nicely appointed Lady Anne Suite with terrace overlooking the lagoon. The living area of the Suite is marred by proximity to the adjacent motorway, but it does shield the bedroom from most of the road noise. Unnecessary "Muzak" from the public areas audible in the bedroom from 0740!! Breakfast on the lagooon-side terrace very pleasant, but more sunshades... More

Wow! We stayed here for three nights whilst touring the Garden Route. This hotel is top notch, set on the edge of Knysna and with a commanding view of the town, lagoon and the Heads. From the minute we walked in, The St. James just poured out quality - the staff, the ambience, the furniture, the rooms, the view, and... More

The first thing you notice at this hotel, is the friendly staff, what a delight, they can't do enough for you. Our rooms were large with separate sitting areas leading on to balconys, stunning views of the lagoon. We had one of the best dinners on our trip, the food was superb.
