Tranquility - if you like overlooking a main coastal route and the sound of traffic. Service - rude and aggressive Food - average Rooms - over priced for a hut on sticks in the wood Overall, a venue that attracts one-time overseas tourists who may think it is amazing but being a South African by birth, an embarrassment to a... more

As this review has been written regarding a stay of more than 3 years ago, we cannot respond in detail. However we have offered this reviewer a Complimentary night's stay with her partner, as we believe Phantom Forest offers guests a truely magical experience.......and we would like the opportunity to change her mind ! ......The Phantom Forest Team.

We spent 2 nights at the Eco Forest as part of a two week trip to South Africa and we were sorry we hadn't booked for longer! Everything form start to finish was wonderful the staff, our suite and the food. The dinner is a must as it is in a fantastic setting and coffee is served outside beside a... more

My wife and I spent three nights at the lodge in October 2007. We stayed in one of the Moroccan Suites. The suite was very nice, but was a bit dark...not unexpected because you are in the forest. It was very quiet and relaxing. The shower and bath are fabulous. However, we did not find the forest terribly exotic or... more

We were booked to stay in Phantom Forest for two nights on our honeymoon... we were expecting it to be glorious, but to be competely honest, we were quite disappointed. The room was lovely, but a bit chilly (weather wasn't great at the time), the food and restaurant were lovely and the staff were nice, but overall impression was one... more

This is a stunning hotel and experience. Could have happily stayed a week. It's totally true to the website, so best to check it out there. The design with glass walled double-showers and outdoor baths is creative and original. Would highly recommend using the spar treaments as they are great value and the setting is beautiful. We were gutted to... more

My husband and I stayed at the Phantom Forest for 3 nights as part of our 3 week honeymoon in South Africa. It is situated in a very enchanting location high on a hill side overlooking the Knysna lagoon, with beautiful views of the sunsets, coupled with entertaining visits from the forest's residential vervet monkey troope. We really enjoyed our... more

We stayed at Phantom Eco-Reserve in February, and to be honest, found it a little disappointing. The food was fabulous and the staff were lovely, but we felt the place was rather tired and in need of a re-vamp. Certainly the glossy brochure does not really depict the pool area. We also heard the traffic from the main road which... more

We visited the Phantom Forest for three nights as part of a 3 week tour around South Africa. Having stayed in a few cheap places leading up to Knysna, we though we would pamper ourselves and the Eco side of the resort really attracted us. Arrived late at night due to a delayed flight, you have to park at the... more

Suites are very comfortable with lots of privacy, since evry suite is visually completely isolated from the other. Breakfast and dinner at the deck a treehut is a very special experience. Gfreat food! The biggest minus is the fact that we could hear and see(!!!) the main road between Knysna and George, not exactly what fits with a eco-resort forrest... more
