We have just spent three weeks travelling in South Africa and wish we had booked a much longer stay at Turning Tides. Everything about it is perfect, large beautifully furnished rooms with lovely balconies, excellent breakfasts and very attentive hosts. There is so much to do in the area that we barely scratched the surface, so our next trip will... More

I've actually lost count of the number of times we've stayed here., but it's probably in double numbers now. Knysna, and particularly Leisure Isle is a place we always bring visiting overseas friends - and Turning Tides is where we always stay. Ian and Joan are caring, delightful people who look after their guests exceptionally well, but are never intrusive. Their... More

We were made to feel most welcome and at home by the friendly reception from Ian our host. He gave first class advise about Leisure Isle and the local restaurants. The room was most comfortable, the Wi Fi easily accessible and facilities and beverages to our needs. Joan made sure the breakfast was well presented, tasty and more than we... More

As soon as we arrived, and I saw the big balcony, I knew there was going to be trouble. I wasn't going to want to leave after just three nights, that balcony deserved at least six weeks! Our hosts served home-made fruit cake and tea to welcome us, and chatted about what we wanted to do during our stay. They... More

We have loved our stays at Turning Tides, making it the go to spot when we visit Knysna! We are so thankful to Joan and Ian for a wonderful experience, beautiful food, wonderful suggestions on places to go, and for even organizing for us to visit some of the local schools!! They are wonderful people and deserve all the business... More

Great stay, with tremendous hosts. What tremendous times! Location is very good, on Leisure Isle. 3 minutes to the beach, lots of space for the kids, good restaurants nearby. Bliss! Would gladly return - and have done many, many times...

We have now visited Turning Tides, like other visitors, several times and sincerely hope we will be able to return. Joan and Ian Huskisson are extremely helpful and hospitable hosts and nothing is too much trouble. We have now stayed in each one of the bedrooms and all have their special magic. Leisure Isle is quite unique - whether you... More

I guess our regular visits says it all? It's become our home-from-home in South Africa. For us, it begins with the private causway onto Leisure Island - the tidal lagoon, the views, walks around the island, its verdancy, birdlife and tranquility. For your hosts, Joan and Ian, nothing is too much trouble for their guests. Every room has a balcolny... More

Joan and Ian gave us a most warm welcome in their most beautiful colonial home, with a cup of tea and a slice of Joan's amazing fruit cake. The house, bedroom and bathroom were spotless, roomy and tastefully furnished. We had our cup of tea on our huge balcony overlooking the lagoon. It was a short car trip into Knysna.... More

I stayed here with my wife a while ago now but must say that this place is fantastic! We were welcomed by the owners and made to feel very comfortable. The location is beautiful and the rooms are just perfect. Will definitely be back when in SA again.
