Part of the package of our first trip to South Africa was to stay in Knysna for three days. We were fortunate to stay in such a nice and unique type of hotel which was originally a power plant converted to a hotel in a smart and beautiful way. The general manager of the hotel was a very responsible and... More

We stayed here for three nights as part of our honeymoon in May 2013, and were blown away by the unique design, amazing location and fantastic service. The turbine hotel is a converted wood fuel power station, but is also a heritage site, so has retained much of the original machinery and features, which has been cleverly incorporated into the... Highly innovative concept for a hotel - a previous power plant converted to a boutique hotel situated in a delightful island/water envrionment. The conversion very cleverly and attractively retained much of the original machinery and industrial character of the power plant - that artistic theme maintained throughout the hotel. Our room was very well-equipped and had great canal views. The... More

I am an architecture student from Cape Town, currently doing a thesis on the Turbine Hotel. Had the pleasure of staying in the Turbine in Feb and May 2013. Both times I was overwhelmed with the wonderful service and the luxury accommodation. The hotel itself is breath-taking. Rooms are light, airy, spacious and very comfortable, and breakfast was included! Overall... More

Wow, well my wife and I couldn't speak more highly of our experience at the Turbine. - The facilities are top notch. - The decor is unique/comfortable and it is obvious that no expense was spared. - The food of the in-house restaurant is of the highest standard (the bread pudding was the best we've ever tasted). - The staff... We stayed at the Turbine for a week in April while exploring the Garden Route area. The hotel was great, but the management was excellent. The GM Ernst took a personal interest in our stay, giving us activity and restaurant recommendations and following up daily to make sure things worked out. This personnel touch is rare these days and was... More

we just spent one night at the fantastic turbine hotel in knyshna. It is probably architecturally speaking, one of the most innovative buildings we have ever seen, converting an old power plant into a boutique hotel with the most wonderful views. the other great part is the wonderful staff which do their utmost to keep you totally happy and your... Arrived at Turbine Hotel we where quite surprised. I had my doubts on how they would transform an old industrial plant into a hotel. I must admit that a great job. The look and feel is a good reason to have a visit. However did it match the 5* standards what they pretend? No! Still a long way to go.... More
