First time I have ever checked out of a hotel!!. I arrived by bus in the early hours of the morning. I had emailed the hotel prior as well as calling them the day before arrival and was assured I would be collected form the bus station. I waited 50 minutes at the bus station at 01.30 am, calling the... More

Dear Frances1965 I find your review of our extremely harsh and one-sided. I must point out that your late night bus that you arranged, arrived almost 40 minutes late. The private taxi waited for more than 30 minutes and wrongly left, without informing the hotel that he had done so. When my assistant manager was informed by the hotel, she... More

My wife and I stayed in one of the theme suites which had all the usual 5 star comforts overlooking the marina. We'll be returning as soon as we can afford it. Pros: The warm welcome we received from the reception staff was excellent and the themed suite we had was amazing Cons: Nothing Location: A great location with great... More

A close friend from the UK wanted to stay in a hotel in Knysna that would comfortably cater for a single lady for several nights. The Turbine Hotel certainly didn't disappoint and she enjoyed the ambience, her room, the beautiful pool, the friendly service (if a little slow at times) and the restaurant food. This is one of the most... More

A very interesting interior with a beautiful view on the harbour. Had delicious cheesecake and apple bake served beautifully. Would love to come back for lunch or dinner, menu looks interesting and food well priced. Waitress was friendly and helpful.

My partner and i recently came back after having spent two nights at the Turbine Hotel. From the get go we were assisted by very professional, kind and competent lady "Onande Melane" who made sure that our stay from booking to departure was an excellent one. The food was amazing, atmosphere and service at the hotel is second to none... More

We stayed 3 night here. The building is a fascinating redeveloped power station. the room was nice with a great view, However we stayed in a 'suite' which I would struggle to describe as anything other than a reasonable sized hotel room. There was a balcony but no separate seating area... A bit misleading. We had a brilliant matched wine... More

We recently spent 2 nights at the Turbine, the presentation of the hotel is very good with bright large public areas, however the standard bedrooms are very small, with only room for the bed, a small dressing table and one plastic chair. The bathroom was nearly as big as the room was some design detail is lacking as the bathroom... More

Dear Mark D Thank you for your posting on Tripadvisor. The building that is now the Turbine Hotel is a Heritage building and could not be altered to make space for bigger rooms in some areas. The two rooms you are referring to, is very popular, as it has a balcony with wonderful views over the canals of Thesen Island.... More

From reception everything went smoothly. Lovely boutique hotel built in old power station with all the old machinery made into interesting features, Bedroom small, but well-planned. Heavenly bed with crisp white bedding ensured peaceful dreams. Restaurant menu well executed with a lovely sit-down breakfast. Walking distance from other restaurantd to cater for every taste. Did not use spa this time,... More

This is a really quirky restoration from the old power station. We've never stayed anywhere quite like it, where the restoration has been built around so many original features. It may sound odd to be surrounded by old turbines, pressure gauges etc but it really does work and create a unique atmosphere. The staff are so pleasant and really helpful... More

A unique hotel set in a lovely position and full of interesting items and pieces of machinery dating back to the time when it was a power station. Each room is differently themed, we stayed in room 105 which was excellent. Great food both breakfast and dinner and the staff couldn't have been more helpful and polite. The rooms are... More
