No show normally means guests not arriving, I have never heard of staff taking the weekend off and not showing up! We booked a room on the Thursday and was told it was not necessary to pay a deposit since we were to arrive on the Saturday, when we arrived, the staff took the weekend off! They did help us... More

While visiting our family stationed in Pretoria, we stayed at the Augusta Bay Guesthouse. The rooms were spacious overlooking a small pool and an inlet to the bay. Coffee/tea could be had at all hours which was much appreciated Rex Drive dead ends here with a fantastic restaurant Senza within walking distance (see separate review). Breakfast was abundant and lovely,... More

We stayed here for 2 nights and that was enough really. When we arrived, we were not even sure if it was open as it looked locked up and very quiet. The location is great but the guesthouse itself is definitely jaded and this may have something to do with the for sale sign outside. The rooms are nice enough... More

We stayed two nights. It is in An excellent position and fantastic views. There is a For Sale sign and the Guest House is clearly on the wind down. There was no honesty bar and the fridge was full of defrosted water. Maintenance seems to be a problem - flaking paint and taps dripping and thin towels. The rooms were... More

Me and my wife visited Augusta Bay in Sept 2013. The place was recommended by our friend, who had stayed there so we were quite confident. The rooms and bathroom were spacious and well kept. We were offered complimentary Sherry and home-made cookies upon arrival in our room. We were slightly disappointed with the bed linen as it has stains... More

I made all the bookings for our holiday so my husband was in for a surprise. He loved this accommodation and felt that he was living the high society life. :-) Thank you to the staff of Augusta Bay for making our stay a memorable one. Breakfasts were lovely and what a spread to choose from. Definitely worth staying at... More

The first impression of Augusta Bay was amazing. Very large "room" or more appartement with a bedroom, sitting room, hallway and 2 bathrooms. It als had fantastic views of the heads and the lagoon. At second sight not everything was that great. In short it looks as if no maintenance or fixing up was done in the last few years.... More

It is not 5 star, more like 2 star with a view. The whole place needs a good spring clean repairs done, and new linen. Otherwise all fine, rooms are a good size. The house is at the Knysna Heads so you cannot walk to town, there is a restaurant and a cafe close by though for fine dining one... More
