Protea House is a perfect place to stay when you visit Knysna. The price is very convenient and the view is magnificent. You can cook in the fully equipped kitchen or stroll down to the waterfront only few minutes drive away.

My first stay at Protea Guest House and every one after, was such an awesome expirience, and i received such a warm welcome from Adri the owner. The rooms are spacious and i just love the deck and the view over the lagoon is breathtaking. Must say that if your ever looking at staying in Knysna on your holiday,Protea Guest house is... More

one of the more beautiful B&B we encountered along our trip with a real jungle feeling and a private breakfast that is served on a porch overlooking the lagoon. We received a very warm welcome from the owner.

I am a tour guide and whenever I overnight in Knysna, I personally stay with Adri in Protea Guest House each and every time. Paradise, one of Knysna oldests neighbourhoods, offers a really peaceful stay with lovely overgrown forest-like gardens filled with birdlife, giving one an idea of what it must have been like in the early days. Each cottage... More

We stayed for a couple of days in Protea Guest House and were given the Loeri lodge. This one of three completely separated from each other units and has two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Ideal for four people to stay there. Large livingroom annex fully equipped kitchen for self catering. We were there on a Bed and Breakfast arrangement and... More

I really enjoyed my stay here and cannot find a bad word to say about all aspects. Ardri and her staff are very hospitable and the rooms are clean and well serviced. I particularly enjoyed the feeling of being part of the forest and a bonus was the breakfast delivery. I am surprised by the negative comments - a couple... More

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this guest house. After the first night we commented to the owner that the mattress was a bit soft. She promptly went out and brought a new mattress and we had a very comfortable sleep after that. We loved the breakfast delivered to the room that you could eat at your... More

We lodge here for a night and run away (we did not like Knysna because it is very noisy, live and chaotic). Units are inside a flourishing, humid garden. The best is the veranda, beds are of poor quality, TV did not work, but the worst, the really worst thing is the smallest bathroom I had in my life, even... More

I just want to respond to the 2 negative comments above. The over grown garden .... The town of Knysna is situated in the the Sitsikamma Forrest. My property is in the older suburbs, the grounds are quite large and between me and my neighbor at the back is still part of indigenous Forrest, you can't see the 2 houses... More

The guesthouse has 3 self catering units for hire which also includes breakfast. Given the rates you pay, you'd be forgiven for thinking that you should have been staying in at least a 3* hotel. We were very confused by the positive things written by other writers. The units are located in the middle of their overgrown garden - which... More

We were recommended this guest house by a friend and we were defiantly not disappointed and I would highly recommend this guest house. We stayed in a 2 bedroom wooden cottage and every morning we were served breakfast on the patio looking out at the Knysna lagoon. The location and views are perfect and hosts/ staff very friendly. All in... More
