Nice hostel really cheap. Hermanus is a really beautiful city with lots of restaurants. We did not see any white sharks and it costs al lot of money!! We think the organisation is getting to commercialiced; they try to get a lot of groups out on the ocean. So you have less time for a shark encounter. We went with... More

We were given a small apartment for a family at the bottom of the garden, located in another building near the reception. We had a small kitchen, small living room and private bathroom. The bedroom was nice and the beds very comfortable but there were no armchair or shelves. The breakfast consisted in some bread, jam and butter. Nothing cooked... More

My partner and I booked the double room with bathroom outside the room in the cottage. It is located around the corner from the backpackers. The kitchen is well set up and has everything needed to cook and is clean. The outside area and pool is wonderful as is the TV room. We accidentally left our passports in our room... More

Hermanus backpackers offered a wonderful place to stay in a town with many activities to offer, all of which can be booked easily through the hostel itself, some at a reduced rate. The dorms were spacious and comfortable, very clean, though not many plug sockets so if you're in a big group take an extension. They have a resident dog,... More

The guys are dodgy. Don't do the wine tour. We were charged double the admission price for a wine festival 5 minutes from the lodge. The driver dropped us at the festival 30 minutes before it started. In addition, the driver had his drunk friends in the vehicle and the sobriety of the driver was questionable (Might as well have... Hermanus backpackers is about 5 minutes walk from the centre of town and only one block from the seafront. It is a very chilled out place with a simple breakfast included. I really like that it had two comfortable sitting rooms, one with a fire in the evenings and a decent kitchen. The dorm was spacious, comfortable and clean. Cammie... More

We stayed here for one night whilst driving the garden route. Place was OK, but it feels a little dirty. The light did not work in our bathroom, and it was not fixed. We did however Get a small discount for it. Staff was very welcoming, but it did not seem like the most organized place.

We stayed in the cottage, a street away from the main building. The facilities are very good, there's a great vibe in the backpackers, and receiption was extremely friendly and helpful! Definately worth recommending, and we will definately be back soon!

Hermanus Backpackers is convenient and affordable, I suppose, but the rest of my experience wasn't great. The staff had a bit of an attitude and weren't overly warm or really helpful, responding to questions my friends and I had with too much sarcasm or incredulity. The bathroom situation was a bit gross; there is a communal bathroom and while it... More

Hermanus Backpackers is perfectly located if you want to explore this charming town on foot. It is close to shops and the cliff walks (which is a great way to do some whale watching). Great service. Comfortable and very clean. Highly recommended!
