We enjoyed our stay at The Cellars-Hohenort Hotel very much. The hotel lies in a phantastic 9-acre garden, and its staff is highly motivated. The hotel also has a prime restaurant with the name "The Greenhouse". Unfortunately they have a policy ... not ... to accept children under eight years of age. We found this policy most unacceptable and appalling.... More

We dined with friends in the conservatory, having first seen around a most fascinating and interesting establishment. A wonderful menu and a great wine list. The team were excellent and knowledgeable both about the food and the wine. It was difficult to choose from such an excellent menu. With my wife's food allergies, the waiter knew what the kitchen could... More

I've rated this hotel average because elements of it were very good and others less so. I had really mixed feelings about the Cellars. The positives are obvious- the hotel is set in wonderful, beautifully maintained grounds with lots of lovely little nooks and crannies and quiet spots to explore. It's peaceful and quiet. The bar was lovely and a... More

We first stayed here in 1997 having first visited in 1983 when it was just the Hohenhort hotel and before the fire after which Liz McGrath et al reinvented it. Visits in 2002, 2004 and 2006 were all great and this return was no exception. First, it's a great base for exploring the Cape being out of but close enough... More

We spent five days at this wonderful hotel in mid February, having stayed before some six years ago. To our surprise we were remembered and offered an upgrade to a suite which was superb. All the staff were friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Being situated in acres of well-tended gardens added to the peace and tranquillity of... More

Having visited The Cellars on two previous occasions (once for a wedding, and another because we had enjoyed the first so much) we decided to bring our two youngest daughter's with us fir a short break during their half term holiday. The over night flight from Heathrow got us in nice and early but this meant that our room wasn't... More

Many friends had recommended The Cellars as The place to stay in Constantia. So, combined with the fact that this is a five star hotel, my expectations were high. It is of course a charming hotel set in beautiful gardens with a very nice feel about it. Our suite was lovely, looking out over the gardens with a comfortable bathroom... More

We booked a night here as we wanted to dine in their Greenhouse restaurant. I wish we had booked longer. It's an immaculate Old Colonial style hotel. Perhaps the only downside is that consequently there were quite a few Old Colonial style guests around. So service is a bit old fashioned deferential. But there are so many nooks and crannies... Let me be clear from the outset, the Cellars is a wonderful hotel in a beautiful location with easy access to everything you could possibly want to do in the Cape. The buildings and grounds are magnificent and the rooms that we have stayed in have been very comfortable indeed, with great bathrooms and direct access into the gardens via... More

We stayed for 4 nights and were very pleased with this hotel. The gardens are immaculate the rooms spotless and the breakfasts very good. This is an adults hotel, and may it stay that way, for there is precious little for children to do except spoil the silence around the pools with their shrieks. There are heated and cold water pools,...
