As a solo traveller I was a little apprehensive staying on my own in Cape Town but they put me at ease straight away. Thankfully Derwent House arranged a transfer from the airport. On arrival everyone was very friendly and couldn't do more for each resident. They organised trips for me and informed me where I can walk safely and... More

I stayed at this guest house with my boyfriend in March 2013. It is a chic and contemporary boutique style hotel. Our room was very bright and spacious, really clean and really quiet. It was an ideal base in Cape town. There are lots of restaurants within a short walking distance and from our balcony there was a great view... More

We stayed at the Derwent House for one week this month and absolutely loved our stay. Carol, the owner was so helpful in both arranging our stay, but also advising us on day tours (shark cage diving, Cape tour and Robben Island) and orienting us to the city. She also arranged airport pickup and return. Although we didn't actually get... More

My girls and I and their grandmother stayed at the Derwent House for 4 nights in July 2014. We stayed in the family suite in the main house and it was just perfect! Everyone was so nice and Vuyo definitely went out of her way to recommend places to eat and things to do. We had an amazing time! Fabulous... More

My husband and I stayed at the Derwent House for 4 nights in early June while travelling in advance of Comrades. We absolutely enjoyed our first experience in South Africa. Vuyo went out of our way to help us with our stay including suggestions for outings such as Robben Island and Cape of Good hope and the best places to... More

We stayed at the Derwent for 3 nights at the end of June. We were travelling as a family of 4 so we booked the apartment which could fit us all in. It was perfect - enough space for us all and right next to the hotel itself which is a gorgeous. - Absolutely delicious breakfasts, a lovely lounge area,... More

We stayed at the Derwent's apartment for 6 nights in July and loved it. The staff went out of their way to make sure that we had everything we needed and we're so helpful in booking excursions, dinners, taxis, etc. The apartment itself is quite nice and not in a dodgy building as another review had stated. We loved having... More

This is truly a home away from home. A very friendly and helpful staff ensures that you are always comfortable. The place itself is stunning - maybe one of the most beautiful hotels I've ever stayed in. In addition, you have everything you need or want to see just outside the door even though it is in a quiet neighbourhood.
