We selected to reserve a “fabulous” room and booked directly with the establishment. Derwent House was located above the city center and was an easy drive from the airport. We were warmly welcomed into a comfortable, eclectic boutique hotel by attentive staff who helped us park and get situated in our truly fabulous room. The facility is located within easy... More

We liked the atmosphere and decor, in particular the common areas of the living room and breakfast/kitchen area. The pool and courtyard are beautiful and private. Breakfast choices were ample and well-prepared. Our rooms (# 2 and 3) were in the main part of the building on the second floor so can't speak about the other section. These rooms were... More

We had a stay of 2 nights in this hotel located in the first hills of CapeTown. City center is not so close but you will easily find nice restaurants nearby, my advise is to rent a car to visit the city and the cape of good hope. We truly enjoyed our stay in the family suite, large with good... More

Derwent House is a great spot to stay while you are in Cape Town. It's a reasonable walk to downtown from here, along streets with lots of interesting shops and restaurants (in comparison the walk from the V&A Waterfront to downtown is really dull and kind of ugly). We had room 4, which faces the street and Table Mountain and... More

We stayed at Derwent House for ten days while we explored Capetown and the area. It was a wonderful 'home base' for us - our rooms were very clean and very comfortable, the house is lovely with a fire going on chilly days and a pool and hot tub for warmer days. Anahid and Armand, the proprietors, are warm and... More

My boyfriend and I have just returned from a trip around South Africa, and whilst visiting Cape Town chose to stay in a 'Fabulous' room at Derwent House for 3 nights. In a nutshell, it certainly didn't disappoint! The whole place is beautifully designed, and feels really homely. The Fabulous room we stayed in was on slightly on the small... More

This was our first stop during our SA trip. The staff was very friendly and helped us settle down. The rooms are a bit small but very cozy and modern. The room we stayed in had a bedroom and sofa bed in kitchen/living room. Kitchenette is fully equipped and you can cook there if you want. Breakfast was lovely and... More

This hotel is so cool. The rooms and beautiful and you have a dvd player with a lot of movies if you are there pn a rainy day. The Living room is cozy and looks more like a normal Living room than a hotel which makes a really good atmosphere. Otherwise every room has a terrace and there is a... More

Great stay at this cute boutique hotel. visited with a group of 6 people all in out late 20's and enjoyed it. The grounds are decorated really nice and the staff always ensures that your needs are met. The oatmeal and the orange juice oh and the croissants are amazing and really enjoyed sitting out on the patio eating breakfast.... More

This small hotel welcomes you with open arms and makes sure your stay is memorable. Beautiful decor, comfortable room, delicious and ample breakfast. Provided umbrellas for the rain, and small lanterns for the power outage (somewhat frequent in Capetown.) The staff is friendly and always greeting one with big smiles. The rooms are somewhat small, but so efficiently planned that... More
