We have nothing but good things to say about our experience at Rutland Lodge. Jean-Jo was a fantastic host and really made us feel so welcome. We stayed here for 3 nights at the beginning or our trip and 2 nights at the end before departing S.A., so we got to experience two great rooms/suites. Both of which were large,... more

Rutland Lodge offers a quiet, peaceful stay while visiting Capetown. There is magnificient attention to detail, in decor, food and hospitality. Having never been to Capetown, our questions were welcomed. We discussed our options over a glass of delicious wine. Restaurant recommendations were super. We never felt that safety was an issue. The rooms are quiet and more than comfortable.... more

Stayed here for five nights to unwind after our trip to Namibia and Vic Falls. Rutland Lodge is an excellent guest house. The bedrooms are well furnished and ours (but obviously not all) had a two aspect balcony with views of Table Mountain, Lions Head, Signal Hill and the Waterfront. The breakfasts are outstanding with tremendous attention to detail. The... more

I was referred to this hotel by the Derwent House Hotel because they were not open when I was visiting Cape Town. The Rutland Lodge is a beautiful house and has a kindly host - it is one of the nicest places I've ever stayed. The bed was sumptous, shower and bath wonderful, and breakfast excellent. more

My partner and I stayed 3 nights at this beautiful guest house in Feburary 2008 and it was impossible to fault! Apologies for the delay in writing this review. Cape Town was the final leg of our trip in South Africa and we wanted to end it staying somewhere comfortable before heading home. This place did not disappoint. When we... more

There is little I could write that has not already been written about Rutland Lodge. I would just like to add my voice to those who have written about how wonderful the lodge and Jean Jo are. In addition, I must mention Jean Jo's dogs, Hugo and Sam, both of whom enhanced the enjoyment of our stay. more

Our host, Benoit, was incredibly hospitable, very helpful and informative with local knowledge and suggestions of where to go and what to see. Our stay at Rutland Lodge was simply wonderful with a cool pool surrounded by palm trees, modern interiors and excellent views of Cape Town itself. These modern comforts compliment the charm and character of this "must experience"... more

We have just returned from a week end in Cape Town and our stay at Rutland Lodge was fabulous. We received a very warm welcome from Jean Jo and Benoit. The lodge is in a charming suburb, and view from the rooms is fantastic. The entire lodge is tastefully decorated. Breakfasts are excellent. Everything was perfect and we are highly... more

If you stay in one place whilst visiting South Africa - make sure it's Rutland Lodge. The house is a beautiful old colonial mansion built by Herbert Baker (who built Cecil Rhodes' house - so straight away you're lucky enough to be living history) which has been stylisly decorated throughout. Breakfast was the best we had throughout our trip in... more
