In just one night spent in Afrique du Sud we had the following experience: - a drunk girl invaded our dorm, yelling and smoking - three drunk guys arguing and fist fighting at the balcony right next to the dorms, in the middle of the night - a filthy kitchen, with piles and piles of dirty dishes - a dirty,... This backpackers is situated in the perfect spot in Sea Point. Lots of shops and restaurants any way you turn. We stayed in a Dorm room which was everything one can expect, decent bunk beds and linen and all for a very reasonable price. This is actually the second time we have stayed here and I can't recommend it enough... More

This backpackers in my opinion is one of the best places to stay in Cape Town. Its a 10 minute taxi ride to City Centre and a 10 minute taxi drive to the glorious Camps bay and Clifton beaches. The staff are very friendly and will be willing to help in any way you need. The actual set-up of the... More

This is a small backpackers hostel. The bedroom smelt a bit sweaty and musty when we entered but the sheets and towels were clean. The bed squeaked whenever one of us turned over so it was a noisy night. If more amorous intentions were planned I am sure we would have kept everyone awake. Breakfast is included but it you... I first booked in for a few days in December and ended up staying for over a month! I came to Cape Town to volunteer and the pre arranged accommodation I had fell through. Overall I had a great time at 'the freak' as we called it. I made friends with a bunch of lifeguards who were staying there from... More

Avoid this hostel at all costs! It is located on the main road relying Cape Town with Clifton and Camps Bay, with very heavy traffic noise both during the day and at night. You could as well set up your tent down on the pavement for a similar night rest. The facilities are old and outmoded, though basic needs are... More

We chose the Afrique du Sud to be our last backpacker on our trip through South Africa and really regretted it. It was dirty and shabby. We don´t have problems with shared bathrooms, especially not in South Africa. But here the toilet was really disgusting and when I stepped into the shower room there was dirty underwear lying on the... More

Stayed here as a couple for 5 nights, there was easy access to hiking up signal mountain, lions head and table mountain a few blocks behind the backpackers. The rooms and general cleanliness needed attention but the friendly staff made this bearable. Devons walking tour of town was a great day to spend the day.

As a habitual backpacker, I've stayed at many hostels over the years. I have to say that Afrique du Sud is definitely one of my favorites out of all of them. I've stayed at another hostel in Cape Town, but now that I've found this place, I'll definitely be back. The internet situation is the best in town, and the... More
