I spent about 5 months at zebra and for the most part had a good time, the dorms are a decent size and cleaned daily as are the bathrooms. the kitchen is a bit small but well equipped. there is an onsite café with decent food at a reasonable price run by the lovely Bronwyn who always has time for... Regularly during my 7 night stay here whilst in Cape Town with friends I had to keep checking the price we had paid was correct. Surely a hostel this good could not be such good value! Well it was! the staff from day one were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean, and the living rooms are very... More

Hi Martin Thank you for taking the time to review Zebra Crossing. We are so delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us. We appreciate your feedback regarding the WIFI. It can be temperamental at times, especially on the one side of the house. We will be looking into this. We hope to have you and your friends stay with... More

Nice accommodation with cheap and clean rooms. Quite big, good quality wifi. However, the dorms aren't lockable and there are no safes. Especially when you have a laptop, expensive camera etc. This is necessary. Well equipped self catering kitchen.

I stayed here at the end of December 2014 for one night. I was staying at Ashanti Lodge and decided to save a few bucks a night and stay at Zebra Crossing. The reason I picked Zebra Crossing was because its website said that it was "a quiet peaceful place for families" (NOTE it no longer says this on the... More

We stayed there in June and it was really not bad for a budget. We were used to hostels and this was decently nice (and so was the little cafe inside - get breakfast there! You won't regret it). They helped us plan our time in ZA as well! They are a Baz Bus stop and they can hook it... More

Since about 6 years we have used Zebra Crossing. There have been positive changes, new pillows and blankets, heaters are in the room, new shower door and a maintenance man on site. But the clientelle has changed. The backpackers use the hand towels as floor mats, the hand soap is being used as shampoo and body wash so that it... More

BNice, quite place to stay. Close to a busstation which brings you everywhere in the city. Around the corner there is a nice coffeeshop with delicious food and a Sparsupermarket as well wehere you can buy fresh yoghurt with fresh cut fruit, pastries and all that kind of thing: very handy! 5 minutes walking of a park to chill down... Follow my advice: NEVER GO to this place. Why? The hotel is an old depressing house. Do you want to go on your holidays to such places? I guess not. If you stay in a dorm, you have to cross the open area to get to the toilets; you might as well get a cold on your way -needless to... More

The Zebra Crossing is well located - a walking distance from the Long Street, the Company's Garden, supermarkets and bars, and well connected to transportation. Staff was very helpful - they helped us hire a very cheap car rental - and there was cheap breakfast and beer at the bar. Rooms were simple - we tried both the private room... More

This hostel was clean and the staff was helpful but that's about it. I stayed there in July and it was FREEZING. There is minimal heat in most of South Africa but the lack of heat was unbearable. I had a private room, which was nice with a shared bathroom.
