I cannot say anything about the accommodation, but visited the sky bar (different proprietor!) for its beautiful location only to leave in tears since my friends were so badly treated because of their skin colour, so I wish people will bar it (no pun intended) until they change their policy (or staff?).

Location, Location, Location On street parking can be hit and miss but there is a parking garage around the corner. Rooms are small, pool on the roof can be crowed. Magnificent views of the mountain from the roof. New Year’s night residents were expected to pay to use the roof terrace. Bit of a check but it is independently run.... More

I had stayed here 5 days for conference, the price was the best in the city, the room was nice and staffs were friendly. I didn't experienced any bad things in this hotel. The civic center and convention center within walking distance, 15 minutes. Overall it was meet my expectations.

The building is shared by three different businesses, and clients have to bear the brunt of their owners' professional jealousies. Helpful staff are negated by rude managers, so be prepared for that. Ensure everything is in writing as verbal negotiations will be denied later. Unless you are back-packing across town, rather find another spot to stay. You'll leave feeling infuriated... More

My wife and I find the De Waterkant neighbourhood in Cape Town fascinating: vibrant, unusual, trendy. We have walked past The Village Lodge Guest House a couple of times. You enter the guest house through a small restaurant. Previously it was a Thai restaurant called Soho. Now, after an exterior makeover, the restaurant is called Kos. This could either refer... More

Initially shown a room which although had all facilities felt a bit claustrophobic. Very helpful staff moved us to another room with a door to a large balcony area which we were happy with. We didn't book breakfast as we went to check out the really good coffee place a couple of hundred yards away (Origin). Had a cocktail in... More

Don't expect service and very small rooms, staff is rude and most of the time no people on reception, they also close the door very early. Will never go there again and very expensive for what you get.

I booked a room for a couple of nights 6 months in advance, I had to pay the full amount to confirm the booking which I did. When I was arriving at the lodge during my holidays nobody was there and the doors where closed. Nobody picked up the phone. I had to find another place to stay by myself... More

Website is misleading, pictures and wording we're not reflective of the rooms which were very small and claustrophobic. Bookings were supposed to incl breakfast but they failed to inform us that the restaurant was under construction and we had to insist on a refund, which was unpleasant.

I didn't stay at the lodge. I just went for drinks at the sky bar on the roof. There is a shallow pool to cool off in when it gets too hot. The view of table mountain is one of the best. There is also nice views of the harbor and surrounding city. I loved it here. Spent the whole... More
