First: This hostel has changed names and been renovated. It is now called "Once in Cape Town." Second: This is indeed a hostel, and a good one at that, with a very young and hip crowd. It's probably one of the best, most fun hostels I've stayed at. Note: I had a private room, so I can't comment on the... More

Due to no vacancy in Cape Town following annual mines conference I had to pick up the place. I took a family room for my self for 3 nights. The room were too small with old bath. Every day had to ask for towels!!!!! I was the oldest guy in the hotel,(most of the guests were around 20's) There is... More

The Sassveld Lodge is under NEW ownership. Having no notice we arrived at Midnight to a newly named ONCE in cape town. As they had taken over less then two weeks previous the rooms were the same. I do not know about the previous hotel history. We stayed there pre and post tour. This hotel is run like a hostel/hotel.... More

Stayed 6 nights: we liked it due to location near long street, clean rooms for reasonable price, easy but good breakfast and last but definitely not least Lynns charming manner and service attitude to her guests. It doesn't have a "great meet & greet" atmo and building and rooms are more practical than giving a sense of feeling home, but... More

I stayed here for two nights either side of my months stay in South Africa. I used Saasveld Lodge as a place to stay inbetween flights and transfers between Cape Town and Gansbaai. The hotel staff are very helpful, friendly and polite; they were everything I could of asked for. The rooms are clean and cosy. The location of the... More

My tour finished here and I stayed on for a few extra days. It started off a bit rocky when there was no hot water but it was quickly resolved. The hotel itself is ok - pretty basic but has everything you need at a great price. Its great value for money. The location is great - easy access to... More

The staff are amazing. Someone mentioned the manager was great & that is spot on but also the rest of the staff were... More

Our tour group finished our trip there. The hotel it's self is ok, bit old, location is ok, wifi is great but its just a hotel with four walls. What made Saasveld lodge is the manager Lyn. Our whole group continued to comment on her 5 star service. Within the first2 hours all 20 of us being in the hotel... More

It's a basic sort of hotel that is very good for value. The truly great thing about this hotel is the staff, they are so friendly and helpful and ready to help you plan a day of fun. Their great efforts cannot be overstated. Breakfast is basic but enjoyable and there are lovely windows that allows for great people watching... More

The rooms at Saasfeld Lodge are small but perfectly adequate. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was excellent, served in a pleasant dining room where tea and coffee were also available during the day. What makes this accommodation are the staff who were always smiling, friendly and helpful. The Manager even popped out to say goodbye as we left.... More
