There was heavy security with gates and doors and it is in a very central location, near the waterfront and a shop and cash point. Massive building feels a little less friendly but its clean and facilities are good, great for a cheap central Cape Town stay

Stayed here as part of a group tour-nice surprise. Great location within easy walking distance of the waterfront. I stayed in a triple room-comfy beds and pillows. Clean bathrooms, plenty of space in the rooms. Good, cheap breakfast-but you have to make sure in advance that there will be someone to cook breakfadt!

Moved there after a disappointing location and felt comfortable immediately. Staff is very friendly and helpful in organizing tours, everything is clean. Possibility to braai, main road with supermarket, bars, coffee shops and restaurants just around the corner. 10 minutes' walk to the Waterfront as well as Long Street and Bo-Kaap. Very quiet at night. Thanks a lot for a... More

Location is good. Service was friendly enough, perhaps a little abrupt but didn't bother us as we didnt have much to do with the front desk and when we wanted something, they would sort it quickly. Our room was really nice. Very clean and spacious and extra quiet, outside of the main area, up some stairs out the back. The... More

Big Blue was GREAT! They picked us up from the airport. We appreciated the advice the front desk gave us (ie. where to eat, what to do). We had a private room with such a comfy bed. We took advantage of the free wifi in the lounge. Close to the V&A Waterfront. The house is really beautiful, cool staircase, popping... More

I went to Cape Town in South Africa's winter, so the place was pretty quiet, but the room was clean and the staff very friendly. Short walk to the waterfront for access to the City Tour Bus and Robben Island Tour. There is a Woolworths nearby for your grocery needs to.

I travelled to Cape Town with my UK friend for a short holiday. After quite abit of research online we came across big Blue as an option. It has quite a few advantages. Our number 1 being the short walk down to V&A Waterfront where we easily took tour buses to anywhere else. This saved us quite a bit, however... More

Big Blue is in an excellent location if you are interested in getting around on foot and local transportation. Just a couple of blocks from the waterfront, and a twenty minute walk from downtown, it's a quiet place to stay in easy walking distance of many attractions. They can arrange tours for you, pick ups and drop offs almost anywhere,... More

A great crew - consistantly friendly and helpful. Very good services + amenities: good size pool outside; 3 x free computers and internet; enough toilets and showers; free hot drinks -coffee and tea; spacious; large TV screen in cozy lounge; very big place - lots of combinations for sleeping; decent priced bar (not only beer for sale); quiet and peaceful.... We had a nice welcoming, followed by a clean and cosy room. It's very good price and central location! 350R for a double room (shared shower). We sleep on the second floor and the men showers and toilets are on the first... I think that's the only disadvantage I can think about. Very clean and neaty place.
