An African Villa wins on all counts! My wife and I spent a week in this fantastic guest house on our honeymoon. It's beautiful, comfortable and safe environment to stay. Stylish, relaxed with thought put into every detail of the design and services. Great rooms and the lounges, garden and breakfast spaces are splendid. The staff at An African Villa... More

My wife and I very much enjoyed our 3 day stay here. We enjoyed evening walks around the neighborhood and especially the local restaurants in the evening. Had some delightful meals. There is one local restaurant (can't remember the name but our hosts are the ones that told us about it) that specializes in wild game. The wart hog ribs... More

Two enthusiastic thumbs up, high up. After checking several options, we decided to spend three nights at African Villa, and it was a great choice. Beautifully appointed, friendly staff, good location, and lots of nice touches (tea/coffee in the room, port or sherry in the sitting rooms, and excellent WiFi connections). Cindy (one of the owners) was especially helpful, making... More

We enjoyed our stay. The rooms are tastefully furnished and well appointed. Owners who are invariably on hand to assist in every way are most helpful. Staff is courteous and well trained. Breakfasts are fit for a king. Parking at doorstep. Great restaurants nearby. Quiet and safe neighbourhood. Wish we could have stayed longer than the 3 days we did.

We had one night in Cape Town on a trip during Easter 2014 and we decided to stay at “An African Villa” based on the price, location and the ratings that it had been given. When I came there in a taxi it was not that easy to spot the place as it was very anonymous on the outside. The... More

An African Villa is centrally located in a lovely neighbourhood on the slopes of Lion's Head and Signal Hill. Popular Kloof street seamed with trendy shops and eateries is within walking distance of the "villa". Guests can relax downstairs in the lounge areas or make use of free internet facilities provided. Free wifi is also available in the rooms. During... More

I stayed with my family in April 2014. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and clean with awesome views of Table Mountain. The breakfasts were delicious and I really appreciated that they had a guest fridge and honor bar in the kitchen. The communal spaces were also comfortable. The hotel is in a nice... More

My partner (Stuart) and I stayed at An African Villa for out first visit to Cape Town from Australia. We chose An African Villa based on the reviews we'd read on trip advisor and we were more than impressed with out stay. Louis (one of the owners I believe) was extremely helpful (he pointed out where to go/ how to... More

Excellent atmosphere, very relaxing and enjoyable, stuff is a few steps ahead and treats you extremely nice. Location is great too - very close to center and you can walk to bus stops, but very quiet. Rooms are clean and spacious. Dining area on the back of the hotel is very private and you can sit there and relax after... More

It's not easy to find a good balance between everything a bed & breakfast needs to be - polished, welcoming, intimate, convenient, and affordable. AAV is all these things. Louis gave us an extensive tour and tons of great information. If not for him, we wouldn't have gotten to see Babylonstoren's incredible gardens (and tasted their supernatural salad), nor experienced... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This Villa is much more than that! It is in fact three houses which are part of a Victorian terrace dating from 1892. The double story houses have been joined together and so the inside spaces are much larger than the facade suggests. It's like walking into a TARDIS someone has written on Tripadvisor! There are 12 rooms and the hotel is owner managed.Location is vital when choosing a spot for you vacation and this more than a Villa is within an easy walk of all tourist attractions in the city area. The others (like the fabulous beaches) are a short taxi ride away. There is a small plunge pool in a peaceful courtyard where a very full breakfast is served in summer. (In winter there's a sociable dining room and an eco-friendly fire blazing). Your hosts are very careful to offer you as much information as you want and they will arrange car rental, restaurant reservations, tours etc. as required.Free internet on 2 computers in a library area and wireless access is available in all rooms. At night the night porter will set out complimentary sherry and port and at other times there is an honesty bar in the kitchen. Parking is on street and there is no charge (street guards patrol) but you should not need a car from this well placed hotel. ... more   less
