Really, this place is perfect. We stayed for 3 nights in the beginning of this month while visiting Cape Town for the first time. All of the owners and staff are super nice and helpful. The breakfasts are delicious. The location is great: cool neighborhood that is full of great restaurants, slightly removed from the super-touristy parts (in a good... More

We loved this place and will definitely come back if we make it back to Cape Town. Everyone is so nice and helpful. Even other guests can't help but be pleasant. The rooms were really nice, a view of Table Mountain out the back, food was excellent and the decor is divine. Also close to public transportation and access to... More

It is my great pleasure to give maximum grades to An African Villa. We stayed there for two nights and are still under the charm. The location is perfect, not far from Long Street, the decoration is extremely tasteful, the room was flawless, the breakfast was a pleasure and our hosts were professional and charming. Attention is paid to small... More

From the owners to the the night clerk, everyone was friendly, helpful, and wanted to make sure that we enjoyed our stay. The rooms were beautiful, the food was delicious, and the recommendations were right on. The location was excellent with a... More

An African Villa is owned and operated by very competent and accommodating hosts. The location is excellent - easy to walk to town or restaurants in the evening. The rooms are well appointed and the extras are awesome - tea/coffee in the room, port or sherry in the sitting rooms, fast WiFi, extensive breakfasts, great recommendations and more. Don't hesitate... More

An African Villa wins on all counts! My wife and I spent a week in this fantastic guest house on our honeymoon. It's beautiful, comfortable and safe environment to stay. Stylish, relaxed with thought put into every detail of the design and services. Great rooms and the lounges, garden and breakfast spaces are splendid. The staff at An African Villa... More

My wife and I very much enjoyed our 3 day stay here. We enjoyed evening walks around the neighborhood and especially the local restaurants in the evening. Had some delightful meals. There is one local restaurant (can't remember the name but our hosts are the ones that told us about it) that specializes in wild game. The wart hog ribs... More

Two enthusiastic thumbs up, high up. After checking several options, we decided to spend three nights at African Villa, and it was a great choice. Beautifully appointed, friendly staff, good location, and lots of nice touches (tea/coffee in the room, port or sherry in the sitting rooms, and excellent WiFi connections). Cindy (one of the owners) was especially helpful, making... More

We enjoyed our stay. The rooms are tastefully furnished and well appointed. Owners who are invariably on hand to assist in every way are most helpful. Staff is courteous and well trained. Breakfasts are fit for a king. Parking at doorstep. Great restaurants nearby. Quiet and safe neighbourhood. Wish we could have stayed longer than the 3 days we did.

We had one night in Cape Town on a trip during Easter 2014 and we decided to stay at “An African Villa” based on the price, location and the ratings that it had been given. When I came there in a taxi it was not that easy to spot the place as it was very anonymous on the outside. The... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
This Villa is much more than that! It is in fact three houses which are part of a Victorian terrace dating from 1892. The double story houses have been joined together and so the inside spaces are much larger than the facade suggests. It's like walking into a TARDIS someone has written on Tripadvisor! There are 12 rooms and the hotel is owner managed.Location is vital when choosing a spot for you vacation and this more than a Villa is within an easy walk of all tourist attractions in the city area. The others (like the fabulous beaches) are a short taxi ride away. There is a small plunge pool in a peaceful courtyard where a very full breakfast is served in summer. (In winter there's a sociable dining room and an eco-friendly fire blazing). Your hosts are very careful to offer you as much information as you want and they will arrange car rental, restaurant reservations, tours etc. as required.Free internet on 2 computers in a library area and wireless access is available in all rooms. At night the night porter will set out complimentary sherry and port and at other times there is an honesty bar in the kitchen. Parking is on street and there is no charge (street guards patrol) but you should not need a car from this well placed hotel. ... more   less
