Stayed at the winchester mansions as part of an overall package taking in cape town and the garden route. Have very little complaints about this hotel. picked up from the airport which was a great help. The hotel is located about 10mins drive from the V&A waterfront in the heart of cape town which is actually a good thing considering... more

We spent a long weekend at the hotel and found our room spacious with a seperate sitting room. The bed was large and comfortable, the bathroom clean. The bar downstairs was great for watching rugby and a drink. Skip the hotel restaurant. The first night our food was sent back and on the second night our steak was adequate. However... more

I booked an upgrade to Sea Facing Suite for 7 Nights After a long flight from the UK we were picked up as promised by the WM Shuttle -a worthwhile service On arrival at WM we were shown Room 325 -and informed that we were being upgraded to a refurbished Room It was a real disappointment -the Carpet at the... more

We staid 3 nights in this hotel on a roundtrip in SA and it made for a wonderful first impression of the country. We were upgraded (always nice) to the Robben Island suite meaning we had a wonderful view out to the sea and two bathrooms, a large bedroom and a lounge. Everything was perfectly clean, all was in good... more

We stayed in a suite with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a lounge- it was lovely. The staff were always helpful and would advise us on directions. We used the shuttle car to the Vand A, it was nice not to always drive. The breakfast was plentiful and we also ate in the restaurant twice, the food was delicious. It... more

This is an excellent privately-run hotel with great architecture and historic atmosphere, almost-without-exception truly friendly, caring and helpful staff, lovely rooms in a great location and excellent amenities. The terrace bar's staff are happy to make up a cocktail to your recipe and find a light for your cigar; the small swimming pool is heated; the cooking is under the... more

Just returned from a week staying at the Mansions in CT. This was our second visit (having stayed for a few nights back in 2005) and the hotel was just as good as I remember. We stayed in a Winchester Suite and although very large and clean, if you want something more trendy I would recommend going for one of... more

Beautiful colonial style hotel with plenty of character - the central courtyard is adorned with Bouganvilla and other ornate plants around a central fountain. The food was very good - although one person did complain to us about an evening meal - it must have been a one off. The rooms are very well maintained and plenty of staff to... more

We stayed at Winchester Mansions for a couple of nights in late January. We decided to arrange for the hotel to pick us up from the airport at a cost 290 rand which worked out fantastic as this was the same price as a normal cab but obviously you have the peace of mind of it being pre booked. The... more
