The name of this establishment should be amended to read "Hovel on the Square". The hotel is filthy and the entrance stinks of old cooking oil and a dirty kitchen. The kitchen lacks maintenance and is in serious need of a make over with a SERIOUS extractor unit. The state of the rooms, which are away from the hotel entrance... More

Rooms are neat and spacey, reception is friendly and helpful. The breakfast (included) very good. The best of this lodge is that it is walking distance to the airport bus and walking distance to Cape Town center (Green market, Long street). Price is reasonable, the lodge as such not sensational, but good to stay in CPT w/o commuting..

This place needs a good revamp, the lobby looks all cute and boutique-like but dont be fooled. Our room was nice and big with a kitchenette, beds weren't bad and shower pressure good. However TV did not work - its linked to their PC system or something or other and needed to be rebooted a few times. Our room was... More

I hate to write a somewhat negative review on a place that is quaint and clearly designed for the budget traveler, but there were a few experiences I had here which made me think they could easily be improved for a better rating. I was traveling alone and since I would be touring Cape Town all day, I just needed... More

This hotel is definitely a tourist trap. It was nice that hotel offered breakfast, but due to the doors being opened it attracted a lot of flies. The rooms were average, but the bathroom wasn't the cleanest. They did offer a small kitchenette to store food and drinks. The nicest gesture was done by the travel agent that booked my... More

My family and I thought this was a great 3.5 star hotel, and was great for our 7 day stay while in Cape Town. The rooms were clean and huge! Location was very central, it never took long to get a taxi. The staff were fantastic - always smiling and helpful!

don't expect much from this place. Yes, it's location is central in the CBD but that's about all it has going for it. All I did was sleep there, my weekend was rather busy. It's not dirty, well mostly.. bathroom could've done with a bit more attention. (stray hairs in the shower grossed me out) But it's the service that... More

The Hollow on the Square's refurbished Annex where I stayed met all my expectations. It is centrally located and within walking distance of places such as Artscape, for example. The hotel also offers a reasonable concierge taxi service for those destinations, just a little too far to walk to. The room offers all the usual amenities with a large shower... More
