We stayed here for 6 nights last week. It is very handy for being nice and close to all the shops, resturants and other facilities in the V & A area. The room itself was quite nice and the bathroom was adequate, nice and clean and well maintained by the staff. We had a lovely view of Table Mountain from... More

In its heyday this must have been a beautiful hotel. The main lobby, lobby bar and breakfast restaurant are all architecturally lovely. Unfortunately that does not extend to the guest room floors. Our room looked out upon the a/c units of a commercial building and that, coupled with the street noise, made it impossible to open the window. We tried... More

Of course I'm staying in Capetown so it has to be the Commodore, now for around 6 or 7 times. Slightly tired charm, but this time with less evidence of package tourists, and seemingly more business folk. Service in the breakfast room was a little better than last time, but then there were far fewer people too. The twin beds... More

We stayed here for two nights on our Collette tour of South Africa. This is a nice hotel, not spectacular, but nice. It had everything we needed - comfortable beds, good breakfast, etc. However, location is the key to the Commodore. This is a great location. It is a very short and safe walk to the V&A waterfront where we... More

We stayed in this hotel for three nights two weeks ago. The location is superb and the service excellent including the concierge who gave good advice on trips. The rooms are standard, with comfortable beds, but the public areas are lovely, particularly outside. I would definitely return.

I stayed at the Commodore for a week in December - the staff was really hospitable and helpful. The price was unbeatable especially considering the prime location (V&A Waterfront is a 2 minute walk from the hotel). There are a number of great places to eat in the area. We were very pleased with our stay!

The Commodore has the following going for it: - Price - Location (brilliant for the V&A Waterfront) - Friendly staff - Decent breakfast Not so good: - Tired rooms - Tiny swimming pool However, I would use it again on the good points alone.

We stayed here for only two nights during our trip to Cape Town. From arrival to departure, the staff couldn't do enough for us. Special mention to Laurien on the tourism desk who helped us arrange our shark trip and was incredibly helpful to us throughout our stay. The room was bright with an amazing view of Table Mountain although... More

We found the Commodore a comfortable hotel, descent sized rooms, friendly staff, especially the concierge, a very helpful travel desk and our rooms were kept to the highest standard of cleanliness. A short and safe 3 minute walk to the waterfront it suited our purpose as a second home for our 10 days in Cape Town. Very good breakfast, we... More

The Commodore is in a great location right by the Waterfront in Cape Town. Pleasingly the room rate did not equate to the location and I received a good rate with a high quality breakfast included. The rooms are of a satisfactory standard, are a good size and always nice and clean even if they are a little bit dated.... More
