I chose to stay at De Waterkant Village because I really wanted to stay in the Waterkant neighborhood. You can walk to restaurants, cafes, and even a laundromat. I was first assigned a self-catering unit which caused my jaw to drop when I first entered - it was like a stylish, posh, loft apartment in NY! But Charles, the awesome... more

In December 2008 we booked a Penthouse run by Village and Life for the Easter weekend in 2009. When we arrived we were told that "the geyser had fallen through the roof" ... for the third time, and that the accommodation was not available. No alternative had been arranged. Staff told lies about having telephoned me earlier in the day.... more

Serious problems with my Credit Card... On December 2008, during a 20 days great travel in the Southern part of Africa, I stayed for some nights in a small apartment at “De Waterkant Village”. I paid them with one of my credit cards but as they made a mistake with the card machine - putting one more …zero in the... more

De Waterkant Village is great if you want an alternative to a hotel and enjoy being in a vibrant community where you get a taste of local life. After reading the other reviews here, I rented a one bedroom apt. at 165 Waterkant. It had a private courtyard, and was clean and pleasant. It looked just like the photos they... more

I was booked to stay 5 nights in a self-catering apartment in De Waterkant Village. My pimary reason for staying in the De Waterkant area was that I was travelling alone and, as a female, safety was a primary concern. The first night I was in a Dixon St apartment on the corner directly opposite Manhatten's bar. As a Friday... more

De Waterkant Village is actually a very nice neighbourhood in Cape Town where "Village and Life" own a number of properties which they rent out on a short term basis. I'll just point out that this is a very gay area in Cape Town and it was quite amusing the reaction of most cab drivers when ever I told them... more

We stayed 4 nights at The Charles Guest House in Waterkant village. We had a wonderful stay. Our room was furnished to a high standard with a roll-top bath and walk-in shower. Our bedroom opened onto a deck with spectacular views of the harbour and Table Mountain. Our host Charles was wonderful - nothing was too much trouble. Each night... more

We stayed in De Waterkant Village for two nights in early March 2007. The "village" consists of a number of old residential buildings in or just off Loader Street, owned by the same company, converted for B&B or self catering. The location is within walking distance of central Capetown. The V&A waterfront requires either taxi or self drive. The are... more

We stayed at De Waterkant House which is a guest house in De Waterkant Village. Our room was called the Napier Room and had a view of Table Mountain at the back and of the garden and pool area at the front. The room was clean and comfortable with white linen and pleasant decor. The en suite bathroom was clean... more

This was our first trip to Cape town. My spouse and I stayed here for three nights in one of their apartments. It was spacious and well kept. Loft bedroom upstairs, kitchenette and living room dowwnstairs. Included breakfast at the main hotel was better than most we've had. I think the location is ideal. There is good nightlife and restaurants... more
