The location is very convenient to the Waterfront, and there are good restaurants and shops nearby. Accommodations are comfortable, and the "standard" rooms are more than adequate for a couple or three. Kitchenette was also more than adequate. The staff was generally helpful, and really rose to the occasion when we had a problem. But there is one big negative:... More

Had a very very pleasant and comfortable stay. Having 3 toddlers, staying there was very comfortable and very convenient. Thank you for the two cot-beds for my twins (usually hotels don't have enough for one family) and the clean couch-bed (which in some hotels is normally neglected). It's was well situated for our needs. Parking was secure and concealed appropriately... More

Stayed for 2 nights with overseas business visitors. Hotel Ok if a little shabby. Rooms comfortableand very spacious but aircon noisy and inefficient. Lobby, dining room and bar all merged so no real place to sit and converse privately. Breakfast very mediocre and not worth the price. Service friendly

Now I usually don't like to leave a negative review but in this case I feel as though I do not have a choice. Protea Hotel is nice and it includes secured parking in what appears to be a garage under the building of the hotel. You can't really go wrong with the views here;they are all amazing. The "room"... Recently stayed for three nights during my vacation to Cape Town. The location was perfect. Close to everything. Everyone whom I came in contact with were very friendly and helpful. The view outside of Table Mountain was amazing. The only thing I didn't like was the parking garage . It's very narrow, but if you drive carefully and follow the... More

Rooms are of a reasonable size, furnishing are not luxury but a good standard. Location is 10 min to V and A ( via Portswood road ) nearby cafes, restaurants and a few pubs. Car park is under the hotel and charged at 40R per night. Customer service was excellent from all staff members, always polite and well mannered. Swimming... More

We stayed there for a weekend and had a lovely room with a seperate living room and kitchenette. The view of the ocean, harbour, Robben Island and the Waterfront from the big balcony were breathtaking. When making a booking, make sure to ask for a sea facing room with a balcony on one of the upper floors.

I have been a loyal Protea Hotel supporter all my life, but this Hotel is an insult to the Protea Brand. I stayed in room 52 (fifth floor) The hotel is dated and in desperate need of rennovation They charge R40 per night for parking, a first for me! especially as I had no choice but to pay it. The... We stayed for 5 nights at this hotel, and to be honest, by South African standards, the rooms were small (felt like we were back in Europe). The facilities were simply and the service average. I dont think we will stay there again, there are much better places in Cape Town that I have stayed at before. The only thing... More

Ideal location. Close to V&A waterfront, green point stadium, golf course, restaurants, cafes, supermarket, city centre, harbour. Hotel offers spacious rooms, lovely pool. Views of green point stadium, table mountain, signal hill and lions head. They serve a great fish n chips on the pool deck.
