Stayed in this hotel for 5 nights at the end of May. We were staying in the 'suite' building across the road from where the reception is. If you do choose to stay in the suite, request for room on the top floor, lower floor rooms are not that good, otherwise just stay in the main building in a sea-facing... more

A boutique hotel with fabulous views over the ocean, which is only a few feet away from the room windows. Sleep to the sound of the waves. The restaurant is excellent, with similar views, although must reserve way ahead for dinner, since it is apparently usually full. First rate service. Only downside is that it is out of the city,... more

We booked into The Ambassador whilst sitting in an internet cafe just down the road - the hotel were quoting rack rate but we got a night free with an internet deal. There was some initial waiting whilst they confirmed the booking on our arrival but once we were checked through the whole experience was great. The staff could not... more

Recently refurbed nicely but it is an old building so some dodgy remnants exist....window frames/ depressing hallways & why didn't they change the cupboards in the rooms rather than try to fit them in to a totally different looking room? Ours were badly glued up! Pool & terrace is fabulous & right above the crashing waves. Staff there were great... more

Very good value for money hotel. Recommend the suites over the road - the higher floors still have a sea view. Rooms a bit dated but the excellent staff make up for this - they are very pleasant and eager to please. The restaurant is fabulous, but very popular. Book as soon as you arrive to get a table in... more

We stayed at this four star hotel following a stay in a five star hotel called Cascades at Sun City and the Ambassador was superior in every way. Its a contemporary boutique hotel with a fabulous restaurant called Salt with amazing views overlooking the ocean. Book before your stay though because its very popular with guests and locals. The food... more

I have stayed at the Ambassador five times in the last two years. I would recommend staying in the Suites which are based just across the road from the main hotel. The rooms on this part have a lounge with TV and DVD player, sofabed and a balcony. There is also a kitchen which you can save money on food... more

The hotel has an unobstructed view of the ocean and commands an enviable view of the sunset. The room itself was average with basic furnishings and dated bathroom. We had the suite across the street from the main lobby; it was a corner room with a large terrace. The service and food was excellent especially during the breakfast hour. Did... more

We stayed at the Ambassador in March, and although the rooms are a bit small and there was no bath tub in our room, we found the staff to be excellent, and had an all-round good time. Victoria Road, where the hotel is located in Bantry Bay, gets busy during peak times but it is worth it for the fantastic... more

We stayed here for one night on our way back after a week in Hermanus, on reflection we would have been better to stay in Hermanus, which i thought was great. There is no pool at the Ambassador at the moment, on their website it does point out that they are upgrading the pool from Mar to Oct , well... more
