Location Situated slightly off the main road of the V&A Waterfront, the Hotel is a 3 minute walk from the main entertainment and shopping areas of the the waterfront, and a 5 minute walk to the Aquarium and the open top tourist busses, and opposite it's sister hotel The Commodore Rooms Rooms are very dated, and are in need of... When I stayed at the Portswood in 2013, I was upgraded to a larger room. I wasn't impressed with the decor which seemed outdated. The room fixtures seemed old and in poor condition, like a corroded power socket, broken lamp and old couch. The bathroom was the worst, no ventilation, mold and reeked of mildew. A very underwhelming property considering... More

Situated at 1 minutes walk from Waterfront and 5 minutes drive from old town the location is quite ideal. Arirport is 25 km:s away. Hotel is quite old, that shows for example in door locks: not working everytime. Breakfast is excellent. Rooms are quite small, clean anyway. Pool was not clean enough for us to try swimming. Pricing is quite... More

2 minute walk the the Waterfront and so perfect for the solo traveller. The breakfast is great with eggs cooked on demand and cooked very well. Car parking is a breeze and the rooms are clean. Service and friendliness are both wonderful. The wifi had its moments but is decent and coverage is good. My only criticism is noise. Light... More

Very convenient location, shopping mall and restaurants within 2-3 minutes walk from hotel. Hotel has undergone a major revamp. Management and staff are friendly and very efficient, always trying to go out of their way to make the guests stay as comfortable as possible. The general manager, Richard Newton made sure everyday that guests were satisfied and happy. Checking-in and... More

For me it was a relaxing and contented stay even for just two nights in The PortsWood at V & A Waterfront. The hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was included; it was something that exceeded my expectation because a whole lot of English breakfast food items were served at the buffet. I also tried their Indian menu for... More

I stayed for 2 nights in May 2014, room was comfortable and had everything you need for a short stay. Conveniently located, short stroll to the Cape Town V&A Waterfront - I would stay at The Portswood Hotel again!

We stayed at the Portswood Hotel on the V and A Waterfront for several nights recently and were very happy there. It is a professional operation, with good facilities. The front of house and business centre were excellent. The restaurant was dark and with heavy use of air conditioner but extra tables were available in the lighter and airier space... More

Hotel was nice n cosy at the lobby. Interesting monument of an ancient well. Like that piece of history. How ever, room was a little old. Pretty different feel as compared to the lobby. Fridge gave off an irritating sound from the compressor throughout the night which disturbed our rest. Hot water took a couple of minutes to come in... More

Husband and I had booked 6 nights here in May 2014 and ended up happily spending 10 after shifting our booking from their sister property, the Commodore. Extremely courteous, guest-oriented staff but an equally memorable part of our stay was the excellent food in their restaurant. Breakfast (esp. the omelets, fruits and cheeses), lunch soups and sandwiches, and the entire... More
