I really hope I can sum up my experience at the Mount Nelson Hotel in mere words, because it was magical and wonderous and exceptional just to put in a few words. I stayed there over the course of 3 months from Feb to May 2009. I have never felt so welcomed and "at home" ever in a hotel. I... more

We were privileged to stay for 9 nights at this Classic hotel over Easter and enjoyed every minute of it! From the special welcome to the beautiful suite (an upgrade) the gardens, the breakfast, the pool area – everything was perfect!. The staff were exceptional. Special mention to Elise (Reception), Phineaus and Leon (Front Door) and Katie (Breakfast Restaurant). However... more

Beautiful Pool & Poolside Area. Beautiful Spa. A very 'old money' hotel. Service was average for what we had been told to expect from this hotel. We were fortunate as we were attending a wedding during our stay and so got a substantial discount off our room rate because of this. Otherwise, it wouldn't have been worth the money paid.... more

For second year in a row, we spent the night (in the Churchill Suite) for our wedding anniversary. From the doorman to the check-in to the room service response time - exceptional. A huge room, beautifully decorated. Staff knowing your names - and going out of their way to greet you and make sure all's ok. Value for money, too. more

Spent four nights here and enjoyed every moment of our stay. We arrived in the early morning but were treated to tea on the terrace while we waited for our room to be ready. Lovely room, huge, with nice bathroom and large bath. Breakfast every morning on terrace overlooking the pool, such a treat with extensive selection of foods. Had... more

We got married and stayed at the "Nellie" for 4 Nights in January this year. We had an absolutely amazing time, it was everything we dreamed of and more. I have to say that I was a little apprehensive getting married abroad, as you can end up being a little out of control, however with the staff, especially Genevieve all... more

What can I say.... The Nelson is our favourite hotel in the world. The timing of our flight meant we arrived early for check in but this was not a problem and we were treated like VIP’s from the moment we walked in. We were given a tour of the hotel so we got our bearings quickly and knew how... more

Booked into the Mount Nelson on a two night special they were running in order to take my girlfriend there and pop the question. The staff, the room (they upgraded us for this special occassion), the setting, the food, the whole experience (because it isint a stay at a hotel - it is an experience), was really really excellent and... more

A great classic hotel, but very expensive for South Africa. We stayed ona corporate rate, which made it worthwhile. They have a beautiful garden, but you can't see the sea from the hotel. The high tea is worth experiencing, even if you don't stay here. It costs 150ZAR per person and you can go back for as many scones, cucmber... more

The Mount Nelson is a wonderful place to relax and its setting is very attractive. The rooms are large and tastefully decorated and the pool area is a great place to get some sun and unwind or have a cool dip. Service is generally excellent. Dining is very good though I thought the scones at the fabled afternoon tea were... more
