We visited here 12 years ago and we were really looking forward to returning to see how much had changed. It didn't fail to impress - they have done so much here - and are still doing building work (which was a bit noisy) but didn't spoil our stay. Check in was friendly and efficient and we were welcomed with... More

I arrived at Aquila feeling stunned by what I saw! Our tour guides from C-tours had said it was beautiful, but this was more than words could describe! From the adventure of the park, to the lovely staff, delicious food, gorgeous swimming pool, it was a fairy tale world! Playing djembe with the great guide under all the stars of... More

We are from Cape Town and took friends who visited from Italy to Aquila. The setting is beautiful and the game drives really good, wonderful nature scenes and lots of healthy animals. We were really dissapointed with the meals, unappetizing, with very little imagination. The accommodation is beautiful, but maintenance is very far behind schedule. There were so many broken... As a newbie to South Africa this was a great introduction into African wildlife. Myself, my partner and parents enjoyed a overnight safari trip driving there in around 2.5 hours from Cape Town. The safari itself was informative (our tour guide Mike was very knowledgable and answered all our question), we saw the big 5 and much more, the buffet... More

From the pickup in Cape Town, the whole trip was wonderful. The lady who drove us there was friendly and informative about the area. On arrival we were stunned by the rustic beauty of the place. Our cabin was great (love outdoor showers ) and it was clean and had everything we needed. Although I was initially surprised at how... More

I truly don't understand all of the negative reviews and wonder what kind of expectations those people had when booking with Aquila. With even a slight bit of research you'll learn that they are a private reserve who specializes in rehabilitation of wild animals. So if you're looking for a true safari experience with a native feel, then don't book... More

Aquila is NOT Kruger. It is a conservation area and rescues animals, preserves the Karoo semi arid landscape and allows you to view Africa's animals up close. If some of the reviewers did not think this was very good please remember you will pay five times more to go to Kruger for a night. As an introduction it is excellent,... More

We recently stayed at Aquila as it's the only place close to Cape Town that would allow kids under 4 on the game drives. My son refused to believe he was in Africa until we saw the animals (I think he expected to walk off the airplane into The Lion King!). I would describe Aquila as a conveyor belt Safari.... More

Definitely not 4* basic 3* accommodation nothing to do or see in the evenings. Food is very below average. Very few animals and not a proper game experience if you are a foreigner. As a first timer it would be fine if you know no better. Kzn is definitely where you find the best.
