I would recommend the experience at Aquila if you are short on time and aren't able to do a "real" outback safari. As it is only a 2 hour drive from Cape Town its great to be able to see the big 5 so close to the city. I did the overnight stay which included 2 game drives. The afternoon... More

This review is not about the safari (especially on horse back), as that was great and is worth a day trip ONLY. But avoid staying overnight at all costs, as we had the worst experience! We chose to stay one night in the hotel, which turned out to be a big mistake (and a waste of 700 USD)! As it... More

I booked this overnight 'safari' as it sold itself as Luxury, which I was prepared to pay for. I would t necessarily class this experience as luxury though. It is a like a less than well oiled machine ,and although my children enjoyed seeing the animals, I came away underwhelmed. It was extremely busy, with all the overnighters trying to... More

this game reserve was a one stop on our tour and we appreciated the nice cottage where you had a great view over the whole game reserve.we had two Safari's which where both amazing. There is a little but, because the meal times where always served as a buffet which i didn't expect in that price range. But anyway, a... More

If you want an authentic safari experience seeing Africa's animals in real habitats then this is not the place for you. If you have kids and want an easy experience to introducing them to 'wild animals' at a reasonable price in nice scenery and with a very pretty 2 hour drive from Cape Town then Aquila is a good choice.... Visited for the day and how disappointing , felt the whole experience was staged , there was food near every group of animals and despite being very close to the lions they were clearly enclosed ! We appeared to follow a pattern of where to go to spot each individual animals . There were no other indigenous wildlife around and... More

Please remember this is not a true game drive like Kruger or Hluhluwe are. It is a small private game drive with enclosed animals. The Big 5 experience is to see a Leopard caged in the ARC. The Lions are in a camp where they don't roam anymore, although are free too. The two Elephants and other game are free... More

I booked online on their homepage. One button is for the safari and 1 button is for accommodation. After having paid both safari and hotel they called me and cancelled our overnight stay due to overbooking. They repaid the cost of the overnight stay of course, HOWEVER they refused to repay for our safari since they told me they were... More

Aquila is not worth the money! This is not a safari, this is a better zoo visit. That was realy a big joke! Everything is unkind. The new building with 4 floors is ugly and does not fit into the landscape. The pool and the buffet were ok.

Visited with family for a 2 night stay On arrival we were shown to what can only be described as "public toilet block". The accommodation was absolutely awful and all I can say I make sure you don't go "budget" on the rooms. Not that this is budget at all and therein lay the problem Have to say that the... More
