I lodged 19 nights at ATL. It has excellent facilities, is well-kept and clean with friendly, helpful staff, and I would place it in the top 10 of all hostels I have lodged in on four continents. Some minor concerns: showers would occasionally run out of hot water in the first minute; the WiFi could be clunky slow some times... More

I stayed here for 3 nights and would highly recommend it to anyone traveling to Cape Town. Stephen and Wayne were very helpful and friendly. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the lounge and kitchen are among the best of the hostels I have visited. Very close to Long streets bars and cafes and buses. Thanks guys for making... More

It is a very roomy and clean hostel. There is wifi access and a large kitchen and living area. The service was very good. It is set in a good location, restaurants and bars on walking distance but quiet at night.

Best hostel that I have stayed in. Perfectly clean, very comfortable beds, great bathrooms, very helpful staff, cosy and comfortable sitting room, great kitchen, excellent wifi, lots of good backpacker touches and a super location. I would highly recommend Amber Tree Lodge.

I've stayed twice at Amber Tree Lodge, and as I'm planning to head back in early 2015 I will certainly be staying for a third time! I've stayed with a friend and as a lone traveller, both times were equally as good! The hostel offers a variety of accommodation from twins to dorms and last time I was there they... More

I was so glad that this was the hostel I chose out of the hundreds that there are in Cape Town. It is such a great place in a great location. Amber Tree was definitely the perfect choice for me, as a single traveller in South Africa for the first time. There is a homely feel to the place, with... More

I have been traveling away from home for nearly a year, staying in dozens of backpackers and hostels throughout Africa. Amber Tree Lodge is the best one I have found to date. The building doesn't look particularly special from outside, but from the time I entered the front door to the time I checked out, my experience was nothing less... More

We loved the location, the kitchen, the staff. We did FREEZE here when temperature dropped to 3 degrees C - no heaters offered. I know that most places in CT don't have central heating, but we were uncomfortable, and the beds weren't very comfortable either. Overall, a good experience, but I would find somewhere warmer to stay in the winter!!

Dear valued Guest, I am glad you enjoyed your stay at Amber Tree Lodge and we really appreciate your review. I was very sorry to hear that you were cold in your room: all of our private rooms do have small portable heaters and I am extremely disappointed that the one in your room had been removed - it has... I had a wonderful time here! I really recommend Amber Tree to anyone considering to visit Cape Town! Amber Tree has a very homely and comfortable atmosphere. There is a satellite TV and a fully equipped kitchen, which was very useful! The beds were cozy and they had a great price range on the rooms as well! It has an... More

Amber tree lodge Will really give you that home while away -feeling which is very difficult to find... Stay for a couple of nights and chill with others in the sofas. We really felt like a big family and as long as there's good company you will have a good time. If there's no good company, you can always chill... More
