This must be the highlight of my trip to Southern Africa. I stayed at The Grand Daddy for 4 nights being a Wednesday to Saturday. I spent 2 nights in The Rooftop Trailer Park and 2 nights in the suites on the 2nd floor. The bar is super cool - there was live music every night, on Thursday the rooftop... more

Our excitement turned to disappointment soon after check-in. We arrived at the rooftop trailer penthouses, amidst a full blown, booze fueled party. Strangers were sitting, quite literally IN our front door, for most of the afternoon. Music blaring, smoking & drinking. The trailers are NOT as big as they look on the website. The interiors are NOT as nice either.... more

We are equally disappointed to hear about this experience and we would like to apologise to you most sincerely. The very upsetting details of your account are not acceptable to the owners or management of The Grand Daddy. Rather than spending time unraveling your experience and allowing it to live itself out again on the page, we would prefer to...

We stayed in one of the roof terrace "airstream" trailers, the Ballad of John & Yoko and admiitedly it was good fun. The roof terrace is very nice, usually there's some sort of entertainment and the bar on the roof is great with the staff rustling up a great cocktail. The trailer itself is quite small and feels a bit... more

Stayed 4 nights in one of the Airstream trailers (caravans) on the roof, which was pretty cool. The "Afrofunked" was a bit smaller than I had hoped and after two night in a cramped bed I was ready to change up to a regular room but was unable due to booking. In summary, the positives are the location. . ..... more

We only stayed here for 3 nights during our tour of South Africa - the hotel itself is really nice - the restaurant does amazing food. I wouldn't get the breakfast included (80 Rand) as the chances are you won't spend that much if you just ordered what you wanted from the menu. The rooms were lovely - good bathroom... more

One of my very good friends booked the Trailer Park on the roof of the Grand Daddy for her 40th birthday celebrations. Many of us arrived a day or two beforehand and had booked rooms at the hotel for the night before the party (we stayed in the trailer park the night of the party). Every single one of us... more

I have looked into the circumstances and would like to start by apologizing for an experience that turned out to be very disappointing! Not only did 1 thing go wrong but it a series of events, that all in all left a really bad taste! I would just like to take this opportunity to inform you of the steps that...

We booked up when this hotel was The Metropole and turned up to see it had changed hands - in fact they were still in the process of painting! It was a very stylish boutique hotel though - very smart and sleak. Reception were pretty helpful and it is walking distance to many attractions - even some very smart restaurants... more

Stayed for 3 nights at The Grand Daddy hotel in Long Street. One night in the Rooftop Trailer Park and 2 in a superior room in the hotel. The rooms are superbly decorated, big bathrooms and all the amenities of a luxury 4 star hotel. I would definately stay here again and highly recomend the hotel to visitors to Cape... more

I have stayed, with pleasure, at the Grand Daddy Before (when it was still the Metropole). Things have a changed a little bit under the new owner, luckily not to much in the hotel. The hotel is still one of the most stylish hotels I have ever been in. The corner breakfast bar is great. The rooms are very nicely... more

Stayed here for 4 nights in March 09. Booked a Design Hotel to get a bit of luxury and to relax. Unfortunately from the time of first arrival until departure the service was lacking in all departments. We had notified hotel in advance of an early check in an approximate time of arrival - 10am. Had received no communication so... more

Dear Richard We, the management of the Grand Daddy, are most disturbed by your account of your stay at our hotel. The service delivery issues you experienced are unacceptable and we apologise for these unequivocally. We also wish to apologise for your bathroom, we suspect it was one of the bathrooms that were affected by water damage recently and we...
