Our stay was a pleasure - with nothing too much trouble for our hosts. The room was clean and very well-appointed, the view from the pool and terrace breathtaking, and the breakfast more than enough to set one up for the day! More

Amazing views, clean and spacious room (Ocean View room), very quiet, working a/c (eventually!). Hot tub not working. Lack of communication. We didn't know the hot tub wouldn't be working until arrival. The manager insisted that she had emailed to let us know but this was not the case. Breakfast was filling - not great cooked breakfast though. The kitchen... More

After following the winding, twisty roads of Cape Town proper, over the ‘Neck’, down the other side, you are suddenly exposed to an overwhelmingly wide vista of the Atlantic Ocean. You can actually see the curvature of the globe. It takes your breath away. At the end of a road is a very steep driveway to your destination: Bateleurs Guest... More

We had a wonderful three nights here. The location is truly stunning, set high on Camps Bay with the ocean below and the Twelve Apostles behind. To maximise the benefits of staying here, we had a braai (barbeque) on two of our three nights, enjoying the wonderful landscape. The other memorable feature of our stay was the welcome from Zania... We stayed in the African Room for four nights and it was a truly great experience: large airy room with a gorgeous jacuzzi on the deck outside - sublime luxury! The location is breathtaking: the golden beaches and Atlantic waters of Camps Bay below, the Twelve Apostles mountains rearing up behind and forested slopes next door. Superb! And then just... More

Admittedly this review is well past due. However.... The Venters are true professionals at the craft of making you feel "right at home" The rooms are VERY well appointed. You're greeted with the most fantastic views of Camps Bay at your doorstep. Staff , like the Venters are true professionals. In short the people, the location, the accommodations are all... More

We stayed in the African Room for 3 nights in early April and couldn't have been more delighted that we chose this guest house. It exceeded all our expectations and was far bigger and more luxious than their site might suggest. The negative review on this site I feel is wholly unfair and unwarranted and might put some guests off... More

It's important to say that this place is not all bad. The view is great and the food is OK. But the bottom line is that any system which grades this at 5*s (as the SA Authority seems to have done) is just not credible: it is a perfectly OK 2* place, perhaps with some elements of 3*s. The staff... More

We recently stayed at the Bateleurs Theresa Guesthouse 2 times over our vacation to South Africa (3 nights at the start and 3 nights at the end of our trip). Over our total 23 day vacation to SA we stayed at 9 different guesthouses throughout the country. This place was our favorite for a number of reasons: - the most... More

The Venters know what it takes to make it as good as it gets! Apart from the inspirational setting with a spectacular view across Camps Bay in Cape Town, the people looking after you are highly professional. Even the maitre-d, Geoffrey, is a delight to meet with impeccable manners. Be quick be nimble as it only has 3 luxury rooms...Jennifer&GarethBaines,... More
