Had a lovely stay in this hotel. The location was good with local shops and chemist near by. The staff were really helpful. Did not get to use the pool area as Clifton beach was so nice. The rooms were of a good size and the view from my room was amazing. Really enjoyed my stay here and will return... More

Service was just average. Staff not greeting. Staff using the lift to travel 1 floor from breakfast area to reception. Staff occupying the lift to the rooms and not even greeting you while they use "right of way" to enter the lifts. This happened regularly during our 4 day stay. It was not isolated. It actually was shocking. Reception had... More

I stayed here in the last week of May 2014, alongwith others members of a cricket team (Ambassadors of Cricket) many of whom were traveling to South Africa for the first time. The hotel made things easy right away as check-in, wifi, etc were mere formalities and our 4 nights here were comfortable. The weather wasn't very accommodating as both... More

As a local resident of Cape Town and used to great food.. a friend and I decide to have a Sunday morning breakfast at this hotel. The croissants were ice-cold and stale. Had to wait 15 minutes to get our coffee. The waitress was unfriendly. This is really a no go for R 165.00 per person. The bacon was overcooked... More

I visited the protea hotel for 2 nights, and I can honestly say I was very disappointed with my stay. On arrival I was allocated my room, and when I walked into it the smell of cigarettes was overpowering and there were flies. I phoned reception, who promptly reassigned me another room. This room was better, however not once during... More

While the location of the hotel is fantastic and the rooms clean (if a little small), I was extremely disappointed at the service in the hotel as well as the restaurant quality. We slept over for 2 nights on a business trip, 22 of us, and not one of us didn't experience total lack of service when it came to... More

We stayed at the Protea Hotel President for 9 days in April and were very happy with our rooms. We had a one apartment room sea facing and a standard room sea facing on the same floor as the lobby. Both rooms were spacious and clean. One of the rooms had a problem with the bath not draining but was... More

We stayed at the hotel for Valentyns weekend. Had a family room so 2 kids had own room which was great. Really nice and close to beach (5min walk) but hotel also has a great pool area but get there early as all the foreign visitors are in those pool chairs all day to get a tan. Service was not... More

The Protea Hotel President is in my opinion one of the best hotels in Cape Town! The rooms are lovely offering either a mountain view, which is gorgeous or a sea view which is even more gorgeous. The hotel is on the Hop On Hop Off Bus Route which makes it perfect for tourists and first time visitors to Cape... More
