Beautiful, minimalist conscious environment. Innovative ideas about camping and respect for environment. Children had a blast abseiling, walking and riding. The Nuy river gorge is meant to be special. We will do the kloofing next time.

We spent two super serene, relaxed and happy days in Simonskloof over the Easter holidays. The cottages are very basic, but cute and have the essentials you need for a few days without distracting you from what Simonskloof really has to offer, and that's food for the soul. The views all around are breathtaking, the stillness is so calming, the... More

We spend a weekend with friends and family here. Great place if you are not looking for luxury, but just some quality time for each other. All the basics are available. Scenery is just extraordinary. Some real time to come back to senses and each other :)

I had the privilege to spend my birthday weekend with my family at this secluded spot. Beautiful natural surrounding, you could swear you were smack bang in the middle of nowhere. We also saw a couple of "klipspringers" closeby as we were braaing on the veld pit fire in front of the cottage. The cottage had no electricity but ample... More

We were in search of a quiet, rustic and remote cottage to spend a wintery weekend and we got just that at the Faraway cottage at Simonskloof. We enjoyed our evenings around the fire taking in the peace and beauty of the valley, as the sun faded behind the rolling hills. We cooked a lovely meal in the dover stove... More

We arrived just ahead of a big storm, and were nicely indoors by the light of paraffin lamps and a blazing dover stove by the time it hit. No electricity, no wifi, no mobile signal - bliss. Solar heated water which could be switched to gas, yes this is basic accommodation but the beds are good and it's fun to... More

My friends and I spent a couple of weeks traveling the Garden Route in SA and wanted to spend a couple of days off the beaten track, but also to challenge ourselves. Our stay at Simonskloof was fantastic for those reasons, as well as the solitude of staying in a mountain cottage! The owners - Jurgen and Mareletta - and... More

What a perfect little treasure. I booked this accomodation initially due to the days 'kloofing' that we did here, which was fantastic and highly recommended. We opted to stay in one of the cottages but on a DB&B basis with Jurgen and Maraletta cooking all of our very delicious meals. The farm has no electricity and all of the water... More
