We stayed at Ivory Tree for our 1 year anniversary. The welcome was very warm and we settled into our room. We were very impressed that we were offered lunch despite arriving just after 14.30! The service was extremely friendly and all the staff were very efficient. The food was delicious. The rooms were great and ours was very private.... More

After a warm greeting on arrival we were quickly shown our rooms and were asked by a ranger if we were keen on the afternoon game drive. After a big few days of travelling 3 hours in a game vehicle was not exactly what we felt like, however off we went. Within 10 minutes we had forgotten about the jet... More

We stayed for three days after our business trip in Johannesburg in early May - starting of winter time in South Africa. It was an excellent choice as it took four hours to travel from Johannesburg. Safari in the morning or late afternoon was excellent. We saw almost everything except cheetah. It was very chilly but it was worth it.... More

We recently went to Ivory Tree Lodge for a 1 night getaway for our first anniversary. First off I must say PJ was our guide and he was absolutely excellent. Friendly, knowledgeable, funny, courteous and a great host. He really made it enjoyable. I must say however, our room was most definitely not worth the money we paid for it.... More

The overall experience itself was great. However the lodge and rooms are now fairly dated. They are clean and neat, bed and linen all great but could do with attention to fittings with a revamp. Staff and food made up for the lodge being a little outdated in decor. We were there approx. 5 years ago and the actual lodge... More

Stayed here for a weekend getaway. Lodge is 5 star quality. Rooms were roomy and comfortable. Bathrooms are luxurious and the outside shower is a hit. Common area is comfy and very cosy in the evenings. Food was excellent, with a wide variety to suit most palates. Service was good but sometimes a bit over bearing. The game drives were... More

Awesome getaway - experienced friendly and helpful staff. Exceptional good food, the dining area was cozy and comfortable. Loved the Spa treatments, Despite the cold on the early morning game drive we had a great time, our game ranger could have been a bit more informative. Wonderful experience all in all will definitely come again.

As an IT Nerd we tend to not get out very much and when we do we normally don't get the opportunity to see Wildlife. I found that they even made the seemingly insignificant animals, insects and plant life prove so vital and interesting to the food chain.

A short stay but a very positive stay. Our staff checking us in and meetings our needs were first class. The game tour was spectacular, our guide was very experience and knowledgeable about all facets of the park and wildlife. We were blessed with having seen all of the big 5 with the exception of the elusive Cheetah... next time... More

The lodge markets - and charges - like a 5 star lodge but is a 3/4 star mass market lodge designed for corporate conferences and busloads of international tourists. The whole place is set up to get you in out, fed, to bed and on the next game drive with maximum efficiency. Personal attention and variety is not on the... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Within the northern region of the Pilanesberg National Park lies an ancient amphitheatre and its in this basin, surrounded by volcanic spires and rolling savannah grassland, that Ivory Tree Game Lodge has been beautifully crafted. The central guest areas include lounges, bar, a dining room and feature rock pool. Small intimate guest areas have been created to retain warmth and seclusion for the individual guests. Sweeping patios provide the ideal venue for delicious English breakfasts and light luncheons with the boma reserved for fire-side dinners. 60 Luxury chalets have been carefully positioned along foot-hills ensuring optimal views of either the mountainous surrounds or the central open area. Each chalet featuring an outside shower, air-conditioner, mini bar fridge, tea and coffee making facility, has been tastefully decorated in earthly tones. This theme is carried through to the spacious bathroom, and it is here that you may choose to relax in your bath beneath a panoramic window or step out for an invigorating shower. Ivory Tree boasts a new wellness experience presenting a wide variety of treatment options designed to relax mind, body and soul. The unique design and position of the treatment rooms ensure uninterrupted views of the reserve. Ivory Tree presents generous bed capacity and has been carefully designed to ensure optimal guest privacy whilst being able to create unique incentive experiences. Whilst our attention is focused around close and unrestricted encounters with Africa’s big game, incentive experiences also include bush dinners, our own version of the amazing race, and numerous additional activities. The lodge also boasts an equipped conference facility. Striving to maintain high levels of personal attention and guest comfort, game drive vehicles are custom built ensuring optimal panoramic visibility. Amongst the most experienced in the Pilanesberg, our rangers and hosts are committed to binging you close encounters with a wide variety of big game, including the big 5, cheetah and wild dog, during morning and evening game drives. ... more   less
