A short stay but a very positive stay. Our staff checking us in and meetings our needs were first class. The game tour was spectacular, our guide was very experience and knowledgeable about all facets of the park and wildlife. We were blessed with having seen all of the big 5 with the exception of the elusive Cheetah... next time... More

The lodge markets - and charges - like a 5 star lodge but is a 3/4 star mass market lodge designed for corporate conferences and busloads of international tourists. The whole place is set up to get you in out, fed, to bed and on the next game drive with maximum efficiency. Personal attention and variety is not on the... More

We stayed at this lodge for two nights during South African winter (July). Which meant that the dusk and particularly the dawn games dries were very cold; no kidding, bring warm sweaters, windbreaker, ski hat and gloves during that time of the year. The lodge has a central facility, which also is the only place where you have Wifi access... More

Never having stayed at a lodge in the main Pilanesberg Park, we were not sure what to expect, and especially from a larger lodge than we normally stay. Well, I can tell you that we were very pleasantly surprised. Yes, the lodge does have a large capacity, but never did we feel crowded or squeezed even though it was quite... More

Disclaimer, this is the first time we stayed at a game lodge. Unlike hotel reviews where I had plenty of benchmark, game lodge is a new beast for me. Situated next to Pilanesberg National Park, the location of the lodge can't be more convenient. Their proximity to the park offers the unique advantage of entering early in the day and... More

Dear UniqueDragon, Good morning and thank you so much for the great review, I appreciate your objective and positive comments as well as suggestions. I am currently busy with a training program for all service staff, this is to refresh the old memories and train the new staff all about the 5* experience. Becca is definitely one of my stars... I stayed at Ivory Tree as part of a big tour group for 2 nights and it was amazing! Nothing to complain about besides the cold weather combined with the outdoor shower! (all part of the package during this time of year) but still good fun running in and out of the cold! The staff still prepped/warned us on what... More

We are staying at the lodge in September and are still in the midst of planning our trip. We have always wanted to go to Africa and are finally doing it. We'd like to do a little bit of everything so we are trying to plan different activities in different places. The Ivory Tree Lodge has a page for activities... More

Now this may be a bit on the expensive side BUT when you get the service and the welcome fit for a king the price is not such an issue. Well run, supper staff with great attitude! Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Within the northern region of the Pilanesberg National Park lies an ancient amphitheatre and its in this basin, surrounded by volcanic spires and rolling savannah grassland, that Ivory Tree Game Lodge has been beautifully crafted. The central guest areas include lounges, bar, a dining room and feature rock pool. Small intimate guest areas have been created to retain warmth and seclusion for the individual guests. Sweeping patios provide the ideal venue for delicious English breakfasts and light luncheons with the boma reserved for fire-side dinners. 60 Luxury chalets have been carefully positioned along foot-hills ensuring optimal views of either the mountainous surrounds or the central open area. Each chalet featuring an outside shower, air-conditioner, mini bar fridge, tea and coffee making facility, has been tastefully decorated in earthly tones. This theme is carried through to the spacious bathroom, and it is here that you may choose to relax in your bath beneath a panoramic window or step out for an invigorating shower. Ivory Tree boasts a new wellness experience presenting a wide variety of treatment options designed to relax mind, body and soul. The unique design and position of the treatment rooms ensure uninterrupted views of the reserve. Ivory Tree presents generous bed capacity and has been carefully designed to ensure optimal guest privacy whilst being able to create unique incentive experiences. Whilst our attention is focused around close and unrestricted encounters with Africa’s big game, incentive experiences also include bush dinners, our own version of the amazing race, and numerous additional activities. The lodge also boasts an equipped conference facility. Striving to maintain high levels of personal attention and guest comfort, game drive vehicles are custom built ensuring optimal panoramic visibility. Amongst the most experienced in the Pilanesberg, our rangers and hosts are committed to binging you close encounters with a wide variety of big game, including the big 5, cheetah and wild dog, during morning and evening game drives. ... more   less
