We stayed here for one night on our way back from Botswana. The room was extremely old school but had all the amenities we needed for a night. Jackie, the owner, was very friendly and giving us tipps where to go for dinner. Breakfast was just amazing. Such a variety of food for only two people, including home made joghurts.... More

Jackie's welcome is like coming home. Wonderful host, wonderful food - absolutely great! Arguably the best place to stay in Upington (unless you like banal business hotels). It's beautiful and functional (great wifi) - all anyone could need.

A pretty cottage, very convenient for the whole family; pretty deco in the room and a flavour of Europe in the main house. We appreciated the "chaufferette" for the cold nights in winter. We are very thankful to our hostess for her help and advices on both our stay in Upington and our trip to Kgalagadi.

We stopped here for night. The friendly and welcoming hostess is the places biggest asset coupled with the wonderful gardens. This must be an oasis in a hot summer. Breakfast was excellent and beautifully presented. Our hostess was interesting and interested. We loved the many cats and dogs. The place was full of charm. Well worth a visit.

Lovely one night stop over. The room was decorated in a very pretty manner. The only problem is that it is a bit cluttered and the air-conditioned is a vintage model making a lot of noise. The hostess was very friendly and helpful, the gardens beautiful, the breakfast lovely and we did not see any cats or dogs. Keep up... More

If you think that details matter and a touch of class in a pretty wild area counts, this is the place for you. We fell in love with its lush garden and flamboyant environment – and it was winter! Jackie, the owner, is a lovely and welcoming person who made our staying really special. All bungalows have their own character... More

I also enjoyed thoroughly your company during your stay in my house. Thank you very much for your very nice review. All my cats send you a very special "Miaou". Sultan is still out and about, but geting weeker every day, I try to prepare myself for the fatal decision. Now, for the good news, I have a new little... More

The guest house is located in a decent location with lots of plants around creating quite a cool and calming environment. Also located reasonably close to the town and the nearby bistro. There's a small paddle pool and outdoor lounge area where you can relax and have a nespresso. There were 4 of us who stayed here and we stayed... More

Going through my Trip Advisor review, I find yours which does make me feel very bad. Indeed. my staff and I pride ourselves in preparing the guest's bungalows and room with the best of care. This time, it seems that we failed (coffee machine incident) and I am extremely sorry for this. About the cats, yes I admit that we... More

My wife and I travel extensively outside the U.S. and because we love their type of accommodations we primarily travel to Europe. We were skeptical when friends suggested that we take a trip to the Kalahari desert in the Northern Cape South Africa. The couple recommended A La Fugue Guesthouse in Upington as a starting point and we prepared ourselves to "rough-it"... More
