The Australian Arms was delightful - a little piece of history. Clean, comfortable and affordable. The staff were welcoming, friendly and efficient. And we loved the pool! We also enjoyed a nice meal.

Having recently stayed over at the Australian arms, I thought it will be appropriate to comment on our stay, as there is many controversial postings on tripadvisor regarding this hotel. It’s the only accommodation in the big hole complex, and as all the buildings in the complex has that 100 year old feel, the hotel fits the bill. Where else in... More

We've stayed at the Australian Arms twice using it as a stop-over on our road trips and it is always a very enjoyable stay and conveniently situated inside the Big Hole complex. Rooms are very spacious and staff is friendly. The kids love walking around the Big Hole complex. Lots to see and do.

A dump indeed! I really do not understand the rating, it is a rated a 4 star and I have been in much better 3 star accommodations. The service is dissapointing, I was there for a week and bed linen and towels were never changed for the entire week. In fact that week felt like a month. Breakfast is very... More

We opted to overnight at this guest house due to its location within the Kimberley Mine museum area. The room (Executive Suite) was large and in good order but the service was poor. The dining area can best be described as a dump and the breakfast extremely basic and disappointing. The management and staff clearly have very low standards (or... More

We arrived at this 'hotel' and could not find anyone to help us. The place was disgusting! We left and will never return. Please be careful when booking here. The place reeked of smoke and the rooms were not made up by five in the afternoon. It looked as if the dirty linens were going straight back onto the beds.... More

A really worthwhile experience as the rooms were in keeping with the whole big hole experience. Liked how in one of our rooms we had the roll top bath but there was a shower hidden behind a door so kept the period theme. My wife enjoyed a deep luxuary bath in the roll top bath. An advatage was when I... More

We booked here as a stopover on route from Limpopo to Cape Town and were looking forward to it as it looked very good on the Internet. On checking in we we told that the restaurant no longer operated and the dining room closed its doors at 19:30 but a restaurant in town was recommended. We then chose to self... More

Australian Arms is ideally placed on the Kimberly Hole property. On arrival you are immediately thrown back in time, with a wonderful sense of nostalgia. The en suite rooms are beautiful, with modern fittings but antique furnishing. My favourite is the ball and claw bath. The day was spent the day at the "big hole" and looking longingly at the...
