Set in a paw-paw plantation, but still within the Kruger National Park, on the Southern banks of the Crocodile River. A thatched colonial style lodge with deep verandahs, elegant furniture, well appointed bedrooms, excellent linen and comfort. Elephant, rhino, buffalo and kudu sharing sundowners across the river from us. Delicious 3 course dinner with excellent ambience and lighting. Helpful, courteous... More

Buhala Lodge is a one of a kind experience! The setting is beautiful, you can have sundowners on the deck overlooking the river and all your meals are served on the verandah (weather permitting). We had wonderful weather for the 4 days we spent there though. The staff is exceptional and very friendly - what a joy! The food is... More

We had them most wonderful 3 nights at Buhala Lodge. The house and rooms have a real antique charm about them. The views from the veranda are just unreal - we decided to spend one full day reading out on the sofas after a long drive the day before, and saw rhinos, hippos, buffalos, an elephant, warthogs, kudu and crocodiles... We wanted to play Leopard Creek Golf Course and Buhala is one of the very few places that can make it possible. But it's more than worth to go there anyway. We were lucky beeing the only guests (the 4 of us) and they gave us the nicest rooms they have with a balcony. They were just big big big... More

I had the pleasure to have lunch at Buhala Gamle Lodge after a safari with Rovos Rail group. The food was absolutely superb, I am still thinking of the tasty two coloured soup and the chocolatemousse with strawberries! The lodge have a wonderful view overlooking the crocodile river. All rooms are large and beautifully decorated with a lot of charm.... More

We recently enjoyed five nights at Buhala on our third visit. Sugar and her family have maintained the very high standards which we have come to expect. The position is stunning – overlooking the Crocodile River and the southern edge of the Kruger Park. Our air-conditioned Elephant Suite shared this view and was spotlessly clean. Game viewing while lying in... More

Our fourth visit to Buhala last November did not disappoint, a wonderful experience yet again! Hugely experienced staff and the delightful Sugar Rhodes in a beautiful thatched lodge with unsurpassed views over the Crocodile river make a stay at Buhala the most relaxing I know. We are not golfers but adore wildlife and Buhala has it in abundance. We have... More

My husband and I have been visiting Buhala Lodge now for something like 12 years . Its situation is as good as it gets , overlooking the Crocodile river with the Kruger Park on the other side . We have on occasion seen more game from the Lodge than actually driving in the Park for a day .Sugar Rhodes the... More
