Stayed at the Rissington with my wife on the recommendation of South African friends for one night. I wish we'd made it the base for our stay in the Lowveld, for 3-4 nights. Very comfortable cottages with excellent beds - although make sure you have one with aircon in summer - elegant gardens and grounds. Very helpful staff. But the... More

We always stay a night somewhere out of the park after two weeks in Kruger Park to ease ourselves back into real life and to have nice meals after days of self catering with tuna tinned veg and rice. Why had we not discovered Rissington before August 2013? I don't know? We had to return, this time September 2014, for... More

Beautiful, peaceful base for exploring fabulous scenery. OK so the decor is a tiny bit tired but it's Africa! More than made up for by the excellent meals and drinks (we brought fresh limes and mint for the Mojitos). Do read the owners remarks.... they typify the humour of the place and we loved it. Would we return? OH, yes.... More

Dear Guildford (did I mention that I was born there?!) Thanks for all your positive, happy and sensible thoughts. You recommended that other people read my comments, so I thought I had better send you one ... I am not sure about the 'antiquated' bit, but you were here just before we did an update of the rooms, so I... More

Rissington Inn is tucked away into the courtryside and is so quiet and serene that you would never know you were just moments away from a busy little town! The lodge is beautiful and rooms adequate although we wished there had been mosquito nets around the beds since there was no air conditioning in the rooms we had and no... More

We stayed one night after spending four 'roughing it' in Kruger NP - and wished we could have stayed longer. In our two weeks in South Africa when we stayed in 8 different locations, the Rissington Inn stood out due to its welcome, service, attention to detail, value and superb food. It catered extensively for a veggie and the excellent... More

Cannot commend the RIssington Inn highly enough. From the moment we arrived after a five or so hours' drive from Johannesburg airport we were made to feel completely at home. The standard room was fine, plenty of space and very clean. The food was excellent and all staff were friendly and helpful. We'd only booked the first night's evening meal... More

At first you might wonder where you are going as you pass a boarded up property and head down a bumpy road. This ends at spacious lawns with trees and gardens and a large main house with bungalows scattered around the property. The main building with deep eaves overlooks the pool and grounds seems very African to us and reminiscent... More

My first reaction is that it is a little Spartan but that would be unfair. Our room (lodge) was spacious had the facilities that we would expect although it would be pushing it to say it was comfortable. The Inn is situated in a rather remote location and without a car there is nowhere to go but that suited us.... More

This is a totally bonkers review with much incorrect speculation but I am so glad you enjoyed your stay so much. I have to correct you on a few things though. Our rooms (not lodges) are a) far from similar to one another - there are four different categories with very different styles scattered around the property but all of... More

One of the most romantic atmosphere you will ever experience. You are in the middle of nature and all that comes with it. The sounds of nature throughout the night along with the authenic food you find at this place makes it the perfect stop for someone heading to Kruger National Park. Its a quick 20 minute ride to the... More

The hotel and grounds were beautiful, the room was spacious, and there was a great little hotel bar area with a patio overlooking the pool and grounds. Great and friendly staff too. The main reasons for the 3/5 ranking are the food quality and the slightly out-dated feeling of the place. However, most of the other guests were a fair... More
