This hotel as stated also by another reviewer, is situated around 30 -45 minutes to one of Kruger National Parks gates so consider that if you want to stay here. That means that for morning drives since you want to get to see the wildlife early you will just have to wake up much more earlier. The hotel grounds are... More

Hotel Protea Hazyview. Disappointing, smelly rooms and malfunctioning showers The property is located in banana plantation about 30 min drive from the Krueger Park. We stayed in the room 40. The beds had old sheets with human hair and crumbs. The room smelled badly. The bathroom had a "laboring" shower that was difficult to adjust for water temperature. Several people... More

Dear Olga P Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel on Trip Advisor. Regarding the musty odour in the rooms, some of our rooms are thatched as was yours and you may have noticed the previous night we had our first rains and this most probably caused the mustyness. The bug spray odour would be caused by... More

Grounds are beautiful and a troop of monkeys on site. Rooms meet needs, but low water pressure and paper thin walls kept me up most of the night. Meals were excellent and the staff very friendly. $850 Rand per night in July. Staff place American Flags throughout the site for July 4th.

Dear Clemsum Tiger, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel on Trip Advisor. Great to see that you appreciated our team acknowledging Independence day, we had many American GUESTS that night. Regarding the water pressure, we had experienced a burst pipe which obviously impacted negatively on your stay and apologies for that. This has since been resolved. More

I spent a few nights at Protea Hazyview will visiting Kruger Park. Its not a bad hotel, but I mistakenly booked this property instead of the Protea right outside of Paul Kruger gate. This location is 30 -45 mins away from a park entrance. But this was my mistake. The hotel is beautifully landscaped. Room was nice, but mine had... More

Our tour guides recommended that we spend the first couple of days recovering from our long journey from Ireland. We couldn't have been put in a better place. We had a wheelchair friendly room with a balcony. The step out was too high. When this was pointed out to the staff they immediately found and fitted a piece of fibreboard... More

After a long weekend self-drive trip through the Kruger National Park and on our way back home, we decided to treat ourselves to a night's stay at the Protea Hotel Hazyview.
