As usual, we enjoyed our stay: the food, ambiance and accommodation was excellent! The dams had just been stocked and I enjoyed the fishing. We opted for dinner B & B as well as lunch which was delicious and delivered to our room. It was a most relaxing stay.

We returned to Stonecutters Lodge in August en route to the bush. We were accommodated in the very recently enlarged and beautifully renovated Stone Cottage. Incredibly spacious now, the elevated patio has one of the best views on the property, enticing us to relax and have sundowners on arrival! Our decision to self cater this time was a good one... We have just returned from a weekend at Stonecutter's Lodge, approx. 35 kilometres outside of Dullstroom. Stonecutter's offers catered and self-catering accommodation. After having opted for the romance package in February (which includes champagne and flowers upon arrival, a breakfast basket taken to your room, etc.), we selected the dinner, bed and breakfast option this time. Again, the food was... More

I wanted to treat my husband to a romantic weekend away but unfortunately it was not exactly what we were hoping for. The hotel seemed to be run by a single guy that was the porter, waiter, clerk, cook assistant etc. He really did try hard, but the lack of staff and run down reception area was a real downer.... As owner/managers of Stonecitters Lodge, we were surprised and disappointed to receive a bad review from "No what we expected". We usually receive great reviews for our accommodation, meals and service! To address a few specifics: The gate mentioned is on an access road and not on our own property and we are not at liberty to upgrade it at... More

We stayed for a weekend at Stonecutters Lodge - Trout House. Even though it was a short weekend trip it felt like we were transported to a different world - a relaxing, everything you need world. The Trout House was WAY too big for us - it was only my wife, our toddler and myself - we thoroughly enjoyed our... More

As it was my wife's birthday the day after we landed from the UK, we decided to split our travel down to eastern Mpumalanga by staying mid-way - between Lydenburg and Dullstroom. We chose Stonecutters Lodge based on recommendations from other people. Our room was pleasant and the service was exceptional. We dined in on both days - and found... More

We came to South Africa for the first time and had chosen the Stonecutters Lodge for our first night. What a lucky decision that was! Lesley and Margi are the "born hosts" and gave us wonderful stay. Also their staff are all very kind and attentive. The whole crew just spoilt from the first minute on. The meal in the... More

My husband and I drove up and thought we had the wrong place. On entering our unit, we were impressed, even though the grounds were brown and dry it was still a lovely place and so peaceful. We had a leisurely walk around, spotted a duckling being protected by it's mother in the little river, lots of bird life that... More

We have had so many wonderful responses from guests that it is hard to reconcile these with the review above! It is a pity that this guest did not approach the 'very friendly staff' he mentions so that his complaints about the shower and gas could have been immediately attended to. Our gas stoves and gas hot-rocks braai's are used... More

My wife and I visited Dullstroom in early August, and chose to stay at Stonecutters Lodge. It is owner managed, and Lesley is a fabulous host. From the moment you arrive, you are greeted with smiles and made to feel welcome and at home. The rooms are comfortable. The kitchenette, bathroom and bedroom were clean and spacious. Location: roughly 20mins... More

It was our first visit to stonecutters and not our last. Great accommodation and wonderful staff. Excellent food. Well stocked dams, we caught the most beautiful trouts. From 1.9kg to 350g. Margi and Lesley are wonderful hosts and they do go out of their way to make your stay unforgetable. Will be back in the summer to try the swimming... More
