This was my first visit to KNP and my husband and I stayed in both Olifants and Lower Sabie rest camps. Having left Sabie around lunchtime, we entered KNP at Orpen Gate and still had plenty of time to stop at Satara for coffee before heading through to Olifants, where we arrived in the late afternoon. Olifants rest camp is... More

We Rented the big guesthouse on the edge of the Olifants river...been here 5 times and always impressive for my friends. The camp is one of the cleanest in the park. Congrats to the camp manager. The new swimming pool adds, even the water was 35 deg....

The Camp is beautifully situated over the Olifants River. The view is unbelievable and the sundowner like none I have ever seen. The camp itself has nice and clean private guest houses with an outdoor fridge & kitchen (the doors all lock to prevent monkeys from eating your food). The pool was perfect for cooling off on a long-hot day... More

Probably the worst camp we stayed in. While the views from the deck are stunning the rondavels are the worst and most basic in the Park, with not even a kettle or coffee making facilities. There is a basic kitchen located some distance away where you can get hot water from a boiler. If you know what to expect then... More

Stayed in number 87. Accommodation is basic but very clean. I had a wonderful view of the Olifants River. Only problem was a drain next to my braai facility which reeked of sewerage. Not so nice when cooking ur food. Staff were very friendly and attentive in all areas of the camp. Shop well stocked and restaurant well supported. Restaurant... More

We very much enjoyed our stay at Olifants as it was an excellent introduction for us to Kruger and South Africa. Pros: variety of activities spread throughout the day (see below); gift shop/convenience store; cost; guides friendly and knowledgeable; felt safe in the camp; good restaurant (although the restaurant didn't seem to have any options that were uniquely African); wait... We stayed in a perimeter bungalow (13) and had an outstanding experience at the camp. The bungalow was clean and well stocked and the room was conveniently laid out. The a/c worked well and beds are very comfortable. The rooms were quiet, and there wasn't much noise in the camp overall, which was surprising considering it was a national holiday.... More

This camp is high and the view is spectacular. We only stayed one night but the check in was friendly and efficient, room was clean and neat. The restaurant is great. If you are staying a few nights book early so you can get a river view unit, it is truly beautiful.

It is always wonderful to pull into Olifants! Situated high on a rise, the views over the river are incredible. If you manage to book the right huts you will never, ever want to leave. Make a tea, grab your binocs and site over the river for a few hours... gorgeous experience.

If you are travelling on a budget, the Kruger is quite accessible and it is easy to undertake a "safari" on your own. You do not need to tie up with any of the high-end lodges. The simplest way to get there is to fly into Shukuza, the headquarters camp, and rent a car there (Avis, Budget), however there is... More
