the hotel was great.. its important for anyone going here to know that its a private game reserve part of the greater kruger reserve. they have around 16000 acres of land, and have 14 lions/lionesses, 50 elephants, 50-70 giraffes. as compared to the main kruger, the number of animals they have is low. however, that said, they do have all... more

Just perfect. The staff taking you to the game reserve are knowledgable and understand your preferences very quickly. Super animal sightings over the four days we were here. The spa is simply stunning. Secluded and serene, it doesnt allow children. The rooms overlook the vast expanse of jungle and you will sometimes find animals come as close as below your... more

as a foreigner living in South Africa by now for about 5 years (and working in luxury tourism) I have by now seen quite some lodge here (also on a lot o private trips). However do I have to admit that Kapama River Lodge (as all the other Kapama Lodges) really offers value for money! For the traveler who wants... more

wonderful setting, welcome from staff friendly and informative. Rooms spacious, bathroom lovely. Food was varied and the service was excellent, although the evening meals in the open area were difficult to see as there was only candle light! Game drives were fun although we didn't realise that the animal population was controlled to a certain extent. Lots of giraffes but... more

If you are after African wildlife, Kapama is a great destination. This massive reserve is home to all the animals you'd ever want to see, and some very cool breeding programs for African wild dogs and cheetahs. The guides and trackers are top notch, and the accomodations were beautiful. We stayed in the lodge and weren't disappointed. Starting with tea... more

We flew to Hoedspruit which saved lots of time. Great lodges, incredible food and experienced, knowledgable safari guides. We took three children 9, 7 and 6. The staff were friendly and helpful. The safari drives great fun, saw loads of animals and they tailored them to our interests and needs. more

My wife and I spent three days at the Kapama River Lodge in late September. We were concerned that three days would not be enough time to see all the animals we had hoped. We needn't have worried, as we saw pretty much every animal we could have thought of and more, including all the big five. We were also... more

We stayed two nights at Kapama main lodge in August. It was our first experience in a Game reserve and we really loved it. We booked through their website and it doesn’t do justice to the place, we were really impressed on arriving. The lodge is really beautiful; the decoration, the setting, the view, it has the perfect level of... more

We stayed there for 4 nights and found the service very poor: At the restaurant: At breakfast, on 2 mornings, we had to wait for plates. Being a family of 5 persons, it was quite impossible to have breakfast outside because the personnel of the restaurant did not want to prepare the large rectangular table outside.... so that we had... more

Stayed at Kapama Main Lodge June 2008, for two nights. It's five star, but I felt the service did not have the level of enthusiasm and professionalism we found in other lodges, many with fewer stars. (We visited seven lodges) I have marked it down here, because it did not rate as it should overall, although the experience of the... more
