We had a whole house for 6 with the 2 of us. At the end of the row with big garden and on the riverside. Very nice, quiet and peaceful. There were 3 rooms with fan, and 3 bathrooms with bath. There was 1 shower outside around the corner. Well equipped kitchen and big terrace with comfy chairs. We loved... More

I finally realized one of my long held wishes to stay in a Bushveld Camp in Kruger NP and traverse the roads there at my own pace. Having been to Kruger a few times before as part of larger groups, I was looking forward to staying in a smaller camp rather than the big Main Camps and Shimuwini did not... More

Our first visit lovely view over the Letaba river, chalet well equipped slightly tired but view made up for it. River loop had many view spots, unfortunately on our visit not much wildlife but in midst of drought. wonderful to sit on patio watching setting sun over the river, definitely will return as very relaxing, some units being renovated so... This is without a doubt my favourite camp in Kruger. We have been visiting since I was a child and there is nothing equivalent to the view, peace and bushveld nights you can experience at Shimuwini. We arrived for a 7 night stay and were checked in to bungalow number 3 with an apology that newly-renovated number 4 was supposed... More

On our first trip to SA we stayed two nights at one of the private game reserves. Nice but also rather expensive experience. This time we wanted to explore the park ourselves and take it also a bit more relaxed. That's why we decided to try one of the Bushveld Camps for three nights. There are no shopping facilities nor... Situated on the edge of a river, Shimuwini's location is beautiful. You can watch hippos and crocodiles from the chalet and there is lovely birding. Next time we would return for a few days rather than just two. Our only complaint was that the fridge was so noisy we had to switch it off at times to get some peace... More

Barring for the especially noisy fridge on the patio and the shower over the bath Shimuwini is fantastic, no cellphone signal, no crowds and the Letaba river on your doorstep, what more could you ask for. Friendly camp reception staff and game drive ranger add to the overall bush experience.

Compared to all the other bush camps in Kruger, Shimuwini has the best view on the surroundings. Very often you can watch elefant breeding herds for hours from your bungalow, as well as a wide variety of other game. Good birding as well. The cleaness of the bungalows could be a bit improved compared to the other places in Kruger.... More

We stayed for two nights in late September, wish it had been 3 we had booked a two bedroom place, firstly let me say the accommodation was basic but was great for us, make sure you take adequate supplies, the place was clean the location was to die for, if you want to see animals this is the place to... You think 'Bush Camp' and what comes to mind would generally be 'no flushing toilets?' 'No Showers?' Rough living. How wrong. For me, this is my favourite camp in the Kruger Park. Set alongside the river, great bird hide (where we had elephants eating just meters away from us). The accommodation is 'semi luxury'. Theres a swimming pool (for those... More
