With soft twin beds, an en-suite bathroom, a private viewing deck and an outdoor kitchen, Punda Maria Tented Camp is both pleasingly simple and satisfyingly comfortable. The tents are situated on the perimeter of the Punda Maria National Parksboard gate camp at Kruger National Park, overlooking natural, open bushveld. The canvas-enclosed shower has big windows overlooking wide, green Fever Trees.... More

It was a while ago but it was an utermost experience. The northern part of Kruger is wonderfull and not so many people. Driving around very slow to see some game, some ? no a lot. Really a bush experience. Perfect place to stay for several days to discover the area ! Highly reccomended !!!

After driving from the Western Cape and spending three nights on the road, our reception at Punda Maria Gate was excellent and set the tone for this delightful camp. We stayed in a tented chalet, situated in the trees, with all mod cons. The chalet was in a very good state of repair and kept very clean. Everyone working at... More

In a 2 week stay in Kruger, we thought that Punda Maria might be the most "rustic", but in fact, our lodging was outstanding and our dinner in the restaurant was by far the best in the park, and rivaled meals we had had in other restaurants in South Africa. We stayed one night in an original lodge room, which... More

The camp is well located within the northern section of the park. The rooms are cramped but clean and are air conditioned. There is also a terrible shortage of cupboard space. The rest camp itself is very quiet which is great if you want a peaceful time. Staff are very polite and helpful and there is a small supply shop... More

The north of Kruger is a must for birdwatchers to the park. The scenery, habitat and the birdlife are different enough from the rest of the Park to add another dimension to the experience and well worth including in the itinerary. Punda Maria Restcamp is a great place to settle for some days to take in all the trails locally,... More

The advantage of Punda Maria camp is that it is very close to the Punda Maria Entrance Gate - so ideal for a first or last night in the Park if you are going through that gate. But one sees very little game there in comparison with further south in the Park. We were luckily to see three very young... More

We love Punda Maria and will strongly recommend this camp, especially if you are a bird lover. The trees in the Punda Maria/Pafuri area are exquisite and that alone is enough reason to drive so far north. The water hole at the fence is an added bonus and, if you are lucky enough to find a site close to the... More

Like a previous reviewer, our family had one of the two 3-bedroom cabins reserved. These are probably the most comfortable family cabins in Kruger: huge, with a nice indoor living room, kitchen, plenty of bathrooms, etc. Even satellite TV, if you want it. And the setting is very nice too, just up the hill from the office and other accomodations.... More

This was not our first time at Punda Maria Camp, it is one of our favourites in the Kruger. It is a smaller very peaceful camp in a beautiful setting. The busiest place being the caravan & camping area but as we were there "out of season" this was also not very busy at all. The hide & the waterhole... More
