We have stayed in Tamboti twice now, in November 2014 and August 2015, each time for two nights, and both stays were incredible for wildlife viewing and for feeling utterly immersed in the bush. The tents are raised from the ground on wooden decks and overlook the riverbed. As in all the rest camps the staff are friendly and keep... More

Tamboti is one of the smaller Bush camps close to the Orpen Gate. Check-in is done at Orpen and be sure to do your shopping there as Tamboti doesn't have a shop or restaurant. One stays here to get out of the tourist rush of the Kruger park. Its is quiet, the river is quite dry at the moment, its... More

Tamboti receives my one star for the view from the deck. However, tents and contents in desperate need of a total makeover. Maintenance has been seriously neglected. The beds are in an appalling state. Our tents were number 35 and 36. We will in future visit the great park again, but will be careful to book again at Tamboti if... More

one of the best camps in the kruger. accommodation is tents, some with ensuites ablutions and others without. all pretty basic but an amazing experience. its separate from orpen its parent camp which is close buy and has a petrol station and a supermarket. tamboti gates close at sunrise so make sure you have everything you need for self-catering. book... We stayed at Tamboti for 1 night, but we wished it were more. We stayed in one of the safaritents, looking over the (dry) river. It was the most beautiful camp we stayed at in Kruger and Addo. With only tents, no shop/restaurants, you really feel like camping in the bush. You check in at Orpen rest camp, where there... More

We stayed at Tamboti Tented camp in 2014 and have already booked a return there for 2015. The tents can't really be considered tents, as ours had ensuite shower and kitchen. Our deck overlooked the dry riverbed, and we had visits each evening from Honey Badger and Genets. We are definitely hooked on Tamboti.

We spent two nights in No.41 (luxury tent) in Tamboti last week. We were very disappointed. My daughter had been there five years before and really found them to be luxury, well cared for and very pleasant. The tent we arrived at was literally green with mildew. The varandah was totally neglected with no varnish in sight. Dry rot has... More

The tent was large and cool, reasonably clean and with a surprisingly good shower. There was a smell of stale cigarettes, though, which wasn't pleasant. The outside kitchen had just about everything we needed, though a 'neighbour' had to pop over to borrow bottle and tin openers as they were missing from his tent. The electric hob was very slow... This was our second visit to Tamboti - we absolutely love it. The tents are well kept and surprisingly bug-free inside! It's really a bush experience with thick dense bush between tents which look out over the river (dry in Aug 2013 but flowing this visit). A hyena passed by the fence a few meters from us and we heard... More

We visit the Kruger annually and decided to stay at Tamboti tent camp near Orpen gate as part of our holiday. This area is well known for wildlife and didn't disappoint. We saw leopard that crossed the road; the pack of 30+ wild dogs; 4 beautiful male lions; numerous elephant herds; jackals; hyeana in addition to all the general game... More
