4 of 5 stars NEW

Shingwedzi camp has been fully renovated following the flood damage of 2013, with a new restaurant and quite a few new chalets. Temperatures are high in February and the air conditioning is a lifesaver, as is the beautifully kept swimming pool behind the camp sites. Take a drive to Red Rocks and explore the Kanniedood dam road for beautiful views... More

We visited Shingwedzi in December, it was a very hot but luckily this camp has a fantastic pool. The pool is open until 21:00 at night but remember to wear some decent shoes as we found a scorpion close to the floodlight. The ablution facilities are clean and well kept. The staff at the camp are very friendly and helpful.... More

We camped for 3 nights in December. It was a lovely experience. I couldn't believe how well-kept the ablution facilities were. In addition there were kitchenette facilites with stoves and sinks as well as an urn with boiling water for early morning game drive coffee :) The swimming pool was fantastic too although the surrounding area was not very well... We arrived at the camp just before gate closure and saw hundreds of elephants on the way there! We were unsure of the restaurant due to previous reviews but we were pleasantly surprised that it has changed hands and now serves a generic, but good quality food. We had a burger and pizza both of which were satisfactory considering that... More

We stayed in the Rentmeester guest house and it was really comfortable considering it is self catering. The property is well maintained and serviced on a daily basis which makes the self catering experience a bit more relaxing. Our unit had a view of the river bed with different game passing every hour. We saw two Marshall eagles cooling down... More

This was our 2nd stop in our first week in the park, the camp had been rebuilt from a flood, we were surprised to check into a new nice room with a kitchen, it felt like heaven. Great AC ! Again good game drives, nice people, good service. Mugg and Bean a bonus, yummy coffee and food. We did not... More

Being on the more upper end of the Northern Kruger Shingwedzi does not have the traffic that the South does which often means that your sightings are exclusive. We stayed at the Rentmeester guest house which offers a wonderful boma type fire area infront of a wonderful river bed view. A spring hare is a frequent visitor to the newly... More

We enjoyed all the camps but after having been warned not to expect too much at Shingwedzi, we were pleasantly surprised. It was so well restored after the flood in 2013 and the staff went out of their way to assist in whatever way possible. The bungalo in which we stayed showed a special insight into the needs of the... More

This was probably the most disappointing of the six camps we stayed in while at the Kruger Park. The dining area was particularly dark and depressing with cobwebs on the ceiling. The rooms were not much better. There was no remote for controlling the air-conditioner. The basin had separate hot and cold taps and the lavatory door could be shut... More

in 2013 floods destroyed the camp so its new and fresh but they seriously could have done with an architect. Anyway the bungalows are comfortable but I don't like an outside kitchen Sept was extremely hot here and we saw most game midday at waterholes. This is not usual. I would recommend going in winter or April to July only.... More
