Shingwedzi Rest camp is also one of the quieter unpopular parts of the Kruger park and situated in the north. The area is very dry and the camp is dusty which is typical of the area. Its situated on the River bank and has a restaurant however, I prefer to have a braai/BBQ grill as my frozen meat is still... More

Shingwedzi has now recovered from the damage caused by devastating floods a year or so ago. The restcamp is in good condition, and is well-maintained. But it's Tindlovu restaurant is dreadful, in stark contrast to most of the branded eateries in the south of the Park. Also, the public toilets are dirty which is not the case elsewhere in the... We booked one two bedroom and one three bedroom chalet. The chalets were clean but basic and the quality of the bedding and towels was fine. Very basic crockery and cutlery was provided. The chalets are designed to face each other and not the park which is a pity. The camp is fine for a short stay but I would... More

We just love Shingwedzi! Nothing nicer than the big circle of cottages with tiny little fires glowing around the circle at night... and the adventurous kids running around in the middle looking for bushbaby's and any night creatures with their torches! Heard lions on our last night... always see massive elephant on our way into the camp.... it will always... More

shingwedzi was our second stop in kruger, we were lucky to be able to move camp earlier from punda, the camping area is also big,it has a restaurant over looking the river, a well stocked shop, enough ablution blocks for everybody including a small laundry, a pool, the nicest thing in all the camping areas o fkruger is a kwikot... Second time here. The rooms are well refurbished, clean and spacious. Visited by the manager, a nice touch . All the rooms face inward in contrast to other camps and your only option was to stare at your neighbours or watch the very troublesome vervet monkeys. The restaurant is fine, incredibly cheap by UK standards. We had a very good... More

A real gem far away from the commercial south of the Park. Chalets are clean and service unobtrusive but good. Surprised that a restaurant chain has not taken over the restaurant. Game viewing was excellent seeing lions, cheetah, leopard, elephant, buffaloes, crocs, hippo, giraffe, tsetsebe, impala, ground hornbills etc etc.

Out of the rest camps I have stayed at berg en-dal, Skukuza, Satara, Olifants and Letaba this is by far the best bungalow. Room is clean, light good size, great size bathroom with a separate toilet. Outside kitchen and table are good. This would also be the newest bungalows that I have stayed at. Easy to say hi to the... More

There is something special about Shingwedzi! I love the way some of the bungalows are positioned as in a kraal. In the evening when you braai, it is so easy to connect with your fellow Kruger Park visitors from over the whole world. We had two beautifully renovated bungalows with AC and everything one needs to have a comfortable stay... More

Just spent 3 nights at Shingwedzi. The camp is clean, well run and the chalets were very pleasant. There is a pool too. SANPARKS continues to do an excellent job. Great game viewing spot too. There is a good viewing deck at the camp and great game viewing from the moment you leave the camp gate.
